Colorado License time line? - Page 7

So how long did it take others in Colorado to receive their license from initial application? I submitted my application on December 16 and am still waiting. I did receive an email today so that my application had been approved and that it was being prepared for transmission to the Board. Hopefully soon, but it seems like it’s taking much longer than anticipated

Thanks @coloradoit. I am really hoping they have a special board meeting today just for all those applications that need to be approved by today.

Yeah seriously this process is so complicated. It would be nice if there actually was a status on mycpalicense.org. Like in initial review, passed QA, waiting for Board's approval. Then we all wouldn't be freaking out so much. All the people I have talked to in the past week said that once you passed QA you are good to go, but still that doesn't alleviate my fear that I need the official congrats you are a CPA notification.

I feel the exact same way Colorado303. I was told on Friday that I was good to go and my application was approved but I have heard nothing since and it's got me so, so on edge.

Me too, Colorado303, they told me verbally that if you pass QA you're good, but yet that written disclaimer looms over my head – no certificates under the old rule after today.

    I think I need a drink.

Agreed ColoradoIT, a big drink. Unfortunately it's month and quarter end for me this week so no time to breathe let alone worry about this shenanigans……

I mean we all have worked so hard to pass the tests and get our licenses before the July 1 deadline, I would hate to not get it because of a miscommunication. I just wish they would be more clear. I won't believe that I am good to go until I get my license in hand. 🙂

    And yes to a drink!!

It was their decision to say applications must be received by 6/15. Here we are, most of us submitted around 6/10 or 6/11 and we are still in limbo. I don't think they had any idea how many applications would come in. I won't be able to relax until I have it in hand, either.

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Their outgoing message just switched to “our office is currently closed…”. You can't even go through the menus anymore.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of you. It is a really complicated process with too much information to plow through. But since you all had everything turned in before the deadline, they have to follow through on their part. Otherwise, the idea of ensuring we are ethical professionals is pretty ironic. How ethical would it be for them to tell you “too bad” at this point?

I am getting that doomed feeling that we've put your faith in an governmental agency that is, after all, a governmental agency.

You would hope? But then again, government employees.

A bit of optimism: Both Knewman and CO303's applications passed QA this morning. I would think they would not be working on your applications if you were not going to meet the deadline since they have so much else to do. Since they are working on your applications, that means they are at least attempting to meet the deadline and that it is doable.

I am going to hope that having a license # is enough. That email keeps bothering me, though. Cannot issue a certificate after 6/30 regardless of when the application was submitted. Who knows at what point in the process they issue a certificate.

I agree ColoradoIT the semantics of their emails have me anxious. But the fine print on they QA email I got when I had to sign and send in the form I missed signature on says:

“ATTENTION: All completed documentation must be received before June 30th at 6 pm CST in order to be evaluated and your application approved for CPA licensure. Any application that is not completed and approved by June 30th at 6pm will be found deficient and applicants must meet the new licensure requirements.”

To me that says 1 of 2 things: either 1 – License number is enough or 2 – they are running an extra file to the Board tonight.

    Fingers crossed!

Very small silver lining: because I was staring at my email this morning, I was apparently the first to see that a spot for something I had been waitlisted for (totally unrelated to CPA) opened up.

I literally can't believe that they shut down their phones. Well hello if they sent out an email to all candidates like “If you passed QA you are good to go, please don't worry you have met the July 1 deadline and will be issued a license in time. NO FURTHER ACTION NEEDED” then I am sure that the entire state of CO wouldn't be bombarding their office.
