So how long did it take others in Colorado to receive their license from initial application? I submitted my application on December 16 and am still waiting. I did receive an email today so that my application had been approved and that it was being prepared for transmission to the Board. Hopefully soon, but it seems like it’s taking much longer than anticipated

I see the confusion, both dates are wednesdays. If you got your board approval on a wednesday (6/24) that makes me feel better. Thank you.

It just came! Noon on a Saturday but it came!!!!

Edit, I'm probably paranoid but is this the same message e everyone got?

“Your application is approved and being prepared for transmission to the Board of Accountancy. NO ACTION NEEDED.”

But it already said last wednesday that it was being transmitted to the board of accountancy yesterday.

I've been lurking here since 6/9 and can't think you guys enough for the stream of updates and information (Coloradoit in particular). I have the expired license number and know it's alright, thanks to you all. Congrats to us all and thanks again for the assistance along the way.

I just wanted to congratulate everyone on getting their Colorado applications in before the deadline! And thanks to everyone for all their posts on this forum. I found out that I had passed my final part of the exam (FAR) on the 5/27 score release, so nothing like taking it down to the wire on being able to apply under the old rules.

Hey coloradorit, yes “Your application is approved and being prepared for transmission to the Board of Accountancy. NO ACTION NEEDED.” is the same email that I received on 6/19. On 6/23 I received the email telling me about how to renew my license.

This is the best day ever. I woke up and first thing i did was check my email, nothing. Checked for a license #, nothing. At noon I'm still staring at my phone (as i did all day yesterday) hoping against hope for that email when it finally shows up. I had some concern when i didnt understand why it was still being transmitted but when i saw my license # i went into the full on ugly cries. I think i cried for longer than I've ever happy cried. 3 years of my life. Coming down to 2 BUSINESS DAYS!

Anyone want to chip in and buy them a huge box of goodies? Haha. I am just so thankful. To them for working on saturday (apparently) and to you guys for keeping me sane.

Thank you again and congratulations to everyone who is making this deadline!

Not sure if this was stated here or not, but keep in mind if you ever want to get licensed in a different state by reciprocity, you won't be able to do so by substantial equivalency, because not having the 150 hours is not substantially equivalent to a CPA in, say, AZ. You'd have to meet other reciprocity requirements like 10 years of experience or something along those lines. Also, AICPA membership, should you choose, requires 150 hours.

I knew about the aicpa membership but not the other. Good thing there's nowhere I'd rather live. 🙂

Tell me I'm not the only one who has logged in to mycpalicense at least 2 dozen times in the last 24 hours to make sure my license # was still there and to see if i had an expiration date. Am I crazy considering it seems i got in 2 business days before the deadline? LOL.

Ugh on Monday. I'm trying not to freak out. I called Nasba on Friday because I had gotten nothing after saying my application was initial approved on Wed 6/17. They told me it was fine and I had passed QA. But I have received no emails saying I've passed, no license number updated 🙁 I'm beginning to worry…….

If you have any doubts, I would call them. I wouldn't wait until the end of the day as they don't always pick up and the line shuts off at 3 pm. GOOD LUCK!

lol, I did the same thing coloradorit…I must have refreshed the dora search page a dozen times this weekend just to make sure they didn't change their minds on my license.

And their emails were definitely confusing…it would make things so much easier if they outlined the process a little better.

Hello! First time poster. I have been reading all the blogs during all parts of the CPA and now about the Colorado Licensing deadline. I originally started sitting for the exam in 2012 and started working for a hedge fund my last semester of school and stopped the process when I was too stressed to function – trying to graduate with my master's, working nearly full-time, and trying to take the exam. Three years later I finally started the process again and passed all four parts in the last 6 months still working full-time. I have submitted my application on 6/11 after I passed reg on 6/9. My last email that I received was “Your application has been reviewed by NASBA and requires special review by board staff. Board staff will determine if your application must be reviewed by the State Board of Accountancy at their next scheduled board meeting or if your application can be approved by NASBA. Please allow 1-2 weeks for board staff review results.” Never got an initial review, QA email, so I started to freak out. I called this morning and they said that each case is different and my entire application has been approved except a yes answer I provided for prior audit experience. They said I should hear back today and if I get approved I will be issued a license! Woop!!

I appreciate all the helpful posts, they have definitely put me at ease. Congrats to all!!

@knewman, YES!!!! That's what I've been saying! Waiting for a score release – if you failed, you can retake. Worst case you lose credit for a prior exam. Waiting for CO licensing – if they don't license you today or tomorrow, you need 2 more YEARS of school just for something you could have today (at least I would).

@jsMTBco – thank you. Hooray, I'm not completely crazy!

@CO303 – nonstandard emails would have terrified me. Glad it is working out!
