So how long did it take others in Colorado to receive their license from initial application? I submitted my application on December 16 and am still waiting. I did receive an email today so that my application had been approved and that it was being prepared for transmission to the Board. Hopefully soon, but it seems like it’s taking much longer than anticipated

Congratulations to you, syoung! I can't speak to her now, but everyone who had her a few years ago hated her. Hopefully she has improved, she certainly could not have gotten any worse. 🙂

I will post if/when i get that beautiful email. (Best email of all time?)

We've probably had a lot of the same teachers, Elizabeth Connor for financial accounting (especially glad i had her pre-CPA because her classes are so thorough), Carol Dee for AUD, michael roberts for tax, hockenbury for cost accounting possibly. I loved those guys. My teachers at CU were mostly great.

I was only over there for my MAcc and they've added a lot of adjuncts in recent years. They just started an MTax program, but I just stuck with the MAcc and took tax classes. The cost was about double for the MTax degree, but the classes were the MAcc price if you didn't officially do the MTax program. They closed up that loophole for the fall – now everyone will pay the higher rates.

So a lot of the professors I had were attorneys or CPA's in local firms. I did have Michael Roberts for Ethical Decision-Making. He's the department chairman now. I had Ann Martin for Financial and Gary Colbert for management accounting. I think they've both been there for a while. Overall a good experience, but I sure am happy to be completely done with school!!

Finally got the email: Your application has passed quality assurance and been found eligible for licensure.

They told me on the phone I'll be licensed Friday!!!!!

Congratulations coloradorit! I got another email from NASBA yesterday. It included a link to the DORA website where I could look myself up and see that I really have a CPA license! And more good news! Our licenses expire in November and we have to take 20 hours of CPEs this year in order to renew.

GEEZ!!!!!! Thank you for the heads up! Oh well, I'll gladly take 100 hours CPE than 2 more years of school.

So you JUST got licensed yesterday or you were licensed the Friday right after you got the “passed QA” email? They told me on the phone Tuesday that I should get the email Wednesday (which I did) and be licensed Friday. If for some reason he was wrong and I don't get licensed tomorrow I'm afraid it will be too late for me as this Wednesday is the 1st. I'm sure they have things under control but I would really appreciate any reassurance!

I've been checking the DORA site for a week, haha. I will be the only CPA in the country with my last name if it happens.

I called them again. Too big a deadline looming. They said I should get the board email tomorrow and that I am definitely going to be licensed and that I made the cutoff for the deadline so there should be zero issues. However, I won't be able to call myself a CPA until I get that last email you (Lori) referenced where I can look myself up. That should come next week. If it doesn't come before Wednesday, I will probably call again due to paranoia.

coloradorit–Congrats on passing the test! When did you hear you made it passed the initial review? I heard on Monday my application made it through the initial review. I am getting anxious since the July 1st deadline is approaching and licenses are only issued on Fridays.

I was licensed on Friday 6/19, and you will be licensed tomorrow. I didn't receive the email about CPEs and renewal until this week. You made the deadline with time to spare, but I understand how you feel. The entire process is extremely stressful. The email I got this week said there is sometimes a delay of up to 2 weeks after NASBA approval before a new licensee shows up on the Board website. But I went ahead and checked DORA anyway, and I was there.

I agree that I would rather deal with CPEs than everything leading up to license approval. I just think it's kinda funny that after all the testing and applying, I finally get my license and have to right away think about renewing it.

    Thank you, Lori!

Awilson, thank you. Both Lori and I received our response regarding the initial review in about the same time. I submitted my completed application on 6/9 and got the email that I passed my initial review on 6/18 (it would have been a day earlier but I had to correct some paperwork). I got the passed QA email yesterday, 6/24. Call them if you have any doubts, they've been amazing. 866-350-0017. If you don't get someone, my advice is to call back in a few minutes; don't leave a voicemail. When did you submit your completed application? I have it in writing from them that all completed applications received by 6/15 will be processed by the deadline (6/30) unless there are uncorrected deficiencies.

Thanks coloradorit. I submitted my application on 6/11. I just called them and they let me know my application should be through quality assurance tomorrow. She said it just has to be approved through them before July 1st, then Colorado can issue the license after July 1st.

Can't wait to get this all behind me! Thanks again for your help!

    Great news! Congratulations yourself!

Good to know about the approval vs issuance of the license. I thought they couldn't issue the license after 6/30 if you don't meet the new reqs but I probably just read that wrong.

Hi awilson2307,did you receive any QA emails? My application passed the initial evaluation on Monday as well, and this morning they told me that it just passed the QA ,but I has not received any QA email. I'm a little bit worried because my application was not complete until 06/17.

Actually, i submitted 6/10, not 6/9. I forgot the 9th was score release and then i had to do ethics. Just a day ahead of you, awilson, so they probably had a ton come through between our apps.

It is ridiculous we have to take so much CPE in such a short time, but really, considering everything else that could have or can gone wrong, i dont mind. I just want my license!

Can anyone tell me if it's during the initial review or qa that you would find out about education deficiencies? I have 30 hours in sport administration that wyoming counted as my business corse work but I'm afraid I will need to turn in syllabi again to count in Colorado. Thanks!

Hi xixu I haven't passed qa yet so I haven't received anything. They said it should go through tomorrow but I didn't ask how I would be notified… Sorry I'm not more help.
