So how long did it take others in Colorado to receive their license from initial application? I submitted my application on December 16 and am still waiting. I did receive an email today so that my application had been approved and that it was being prepared for transmission to the Board. Hopefully soon, but it seems like it’s taking much longer than anticipated

Hi I just want to thank you all, especially Coloradorit, for updating the progress on the license. I have been following this thread since I submitted my application on 6/15. I had the exact time line as Coloradorit and I couldn't go to DORA and retype everything every few minutes at work. This thread and all your effort have been silently thanked. I secretly wish that we could all get together and celebrate this day together, but I know we are just gonna go on with our bright life. Thanks again and congratulations everyone! TODAY IS A BEAUTIFUL DAY!

Yeah Coloradorit not sure about the AICPA. I am not in public accounting so I guess if they don't want me…part of me does wonder why the discrepancy. My boss only has 120 hours and he is fine. I understand he was grandfathered but I don't see a big difference.

Seems kind of stupid to just arbitrarily draw a line in the sand and not allow all CPAs in with the same qualifications. Oh well.

This thread has helped me tremendously. I'm such a worrier as it is, and this was so stressful. Yeah, i kind of want to all celebrate but i am sure we will each have our own parties. I will tell you what i am looking forward to the most is a camp fire and my Gleim books roasting atop it. It will be amazing.

Moment of truth: how many times did you look yourself up in DORA yesterday?

I am not ashamed to say approximately 50 times. 🙂

Now I guess we need that state-mandated ethics course (not the AICPA course needed for licensure). Anyone know anything about that? I suppose they may send some info in an email, but I have yet to receive any more emails from them since Saturday. Lori and others were referencing an email to tell you that you can look yourself up in DORA. I think we are all in DORA now but I don't think any of us got the email. Hey, if the state only had time to license us and not tell us, I'm sure we're all okay with it (though it would have been nice to receive some sort of communication so we didn't all worry).

    Congrats to all!!

They must be far behind on emails, my license was official last Friday and I still haven't received anything beyond the “Your application is approved and being prepared for transmission to the Board of Accountancy. NO ACTION NEEDED.”

Sounds like they issued a lot of licenses…mine was in the 335xx range.

The license gaps seem to have been filled in.

So 33362 is the first license issued in June. 33703 is the last one to have made the deadline. That's well over 300 applications in 15 days. The previous 300 applications 33062 – 33361 were issued starting April 3rd. So they had more applications in 15 days than they did the previous 2 months.

As those 2 months still include people trying to make the deadline, if we take it back another 300 to 32762, that was January 9, nearly 3 months. Another 300 takes us back another 3 months.

Seems like they were doing about 100/month on average, then 342 in 15 days. Today is their April 16th.

What's really crazy is that I looked at the application received just before mine and it's an old friend/coworker who had since moved out of state. I didn't even know she was sitting. So all this time we were going through the same stuff and I had an actual friend to talk to about it who understood exactly what was happening and neither of us knew. I think I told her she was on DORA before she even knew.

That is insane regarding how many applications they processed in 15 days. Nothing like getting your license on the last day before the requirement change! Now my question is what are the next steps? AIPCA and COCPA? Do we have to order our license? And now onto more CPE classes!

Please share the link where I can check the License #. My case was reviewed at the board meeting yesterday. Does anyone know when should I hear back?

I could get in touch with the Colorado State Board Co-ordinator at NASBA. He confirmed that my application was denied in yesterday's borad meeting. The reasons are not know yet. It is very very frustrating. I have been dealing with them since last 2 months.

Colorado 303, I was licensed on 6/19, so I am a little bit ahead of you on the timeline. I received a congratulations on your CPA license letter followed by an information packet from the COCPA. The letter was dated 6/22 and said that the Board of the COCPA is giving me a free membership good through 4/30/16. The membership includes a 30% discount on CPEs including live and webcasts. So don't spend any money signing up with COCPA quite yet as I am sure you will be receiving a letter before too long.

I have the same questions as you, colorado303. Licensing called me back from the vm i left yesterday. She alluded to the fact that they have a lot left to do (emails? )

Well that sucks, I already signed up for COCPA. Good thing my employer is reimbursing me…

They may give you a refund if you ask?

I must've filled out my info in lower case at some point because my name and address were all in lc in dora. I thought it was funny but mentioned it when they called back and they had it fixed within 5 minutes. Funny thing is, it feels so much more official now in title case.

I started looking up a bunch of people. My jerk former boss has disciplinary actions. Only glanced at one but it appeared to be that he was missing cpe. Let's all make sure we don't do that! Sure leaves an ugly stain on your record.

@mutka, check mycpalicense.org. you should have a user name and password already set up from when you submitted your colorado application. Good luck.

Alternately, this is the dora site where they show all the licenses that have been issued. You do not need a username or password. https://www.colorado.gov/dora/licensing/Lookup/LicenseLookup.aspx

Thank you Coloradorit! But I got the information that they have denied my application at the board meeting. I don't know the reasons yet. It will take 3/5 business days for them to inform me the details. It is very frustrating. I have been dealing with them since 2 months. Provided every single piece of information they asked for. Still this is of no use. I am not sure when I reapply do I need to take the ethics exam again as I last took the exam in April which is more than 90 days ago.
