I called and emailed last Monday the 18th and also have called and email numerous times since then – is it common that the Board just doesn’t answer or call back for over a week? My application was not considered in the latest meeting even though I submitted it two months ago, and I haven’t been able to reach anyone to find the answer as to why. Not even sure who I can escalate this to if they don’t reply back. Anyone have any similar experiences/advice?

@Radez I should have mentioned, that yes, they did acknowledge payment. I got an automatic email acknowledging payment confirmation and then the next day received an email saying my payment was received with a copy of a receipt of the payment.

One other thought, have you searched for your name under check a professional license? https://elicensing.state.ma.us/CitizenAccess/_SearchaLicense.htm

In the email with my payment receipt, they indicated that to check the status of my application I should go here. I haven't received any other communications from the board.

Yeah that's the website I've been using to check my name daily lol. I'm thinking given that no one is probably there checking emails, the application submissions from the portal go to the email and no one is checking. I'm sending it in the mail today.

Just as an update, I was notified yesterday that my application was approved and granted a license. Officially a CPA. It looks like mailing the application is the way to go, despite the option to do it online. As recommended, I mailed my application with a letter mentioning that I already paid and submitted online, but with the staffing levels so low at the Board I'm thinking mailing it in is best. I've seen from the MA Society of CPAs that the staff at the Board is now done to 1 so a backlog could continue until they figure out staffing. Thanks to all for the help and advice.

Congrats! That's awesome news! I'm glad that worked for you. I'm sorry you had to wait so long. Must have been very aggravating. Congrats again!

“As you may have read on the HUB, or experienced yourself, the Board of Public Accountancy (BoPA) has been backlogged by license applications and licensee correspondence over the last few months. Unfortunately, the already stretched BoPA staff lost two employees, reducing the staff to one. While we appreciate the solid working relationship we have with BoPA, we are frustrated on behalf of our members who have been experiencing completely unacceptable levels of service.

We are working with the Baker Administration to ensure BoPA has adequate staff and resources moving forward. We will post updates here and also on the HUB. In the short term, if you are having issues contacting BoPA staff, or if you haven’t received confirmation of a license application or renewal, please contact”
