Hi everyone. As you can tell from my screen name, I live in Wisconsin! I took the FAR exam (my first section) on 7/10 and then took AUD on 8/14. I plan to take REG next in October and BEC in November. I have read that Wisconsin is slow to release scores, but I’m confused about that. Does Wisconsin wait until all of the scores are in for Wave 1 and then release all of the Wave 1 scores together, or does it wait until all of the scores are in for Waves 1 AND 2 and then release them all together?

I have to say that in this whole exam process, the release of scores has not been communicated clearly, and I was surprised that no information was provided upon exam completion as to approximately when/how scores are released from Wisconsin. I don’t even know if I will receive anything in the mail or not. I know I can log into NASBA and check for my scores, but when? It seems ridiculous that we put so much effort and time into studying (not to mention cash!), and we are left to wonder and wait about scores. I’m trying to decide whether to go ahead and schedule the next exams when I have not yet learned about passing these, because if I didn’t pass, I want to retake those as soon as possible. It’s hard to plan ahead without knowing. And, we’re all in this 18-month pressure cooker to pass all sections.

I know I’m preaching to the choir, but with the available computerized technology, I would sure like to see an improved grading and score release system.

Jan – No one knows why WI holds scores. You don't necessarily need to keep checking and checking for weeks. You'll get your score in the mail approximately 3-5 business days after their posted online.

The best Geneva's been able to tell me is that they “anticipate” having all scores loaded by a certain date. Whether that holds true is another story.

If Wisconsin were more friendly, they'd post some sort of message on their website or something during each score release wave, i.e. “Wisconsin Wave 1 scores anticipated release date = XX/XX/XXXX” or “Wisconsin has posted Wave 1 scores today, XX/XX/XXXX”. They could maintain an e-mail list of candidates even.

I know I will eventually receive something in the mail, but right now, I've been holding off getting a new NTS for the remaining sections until I know one way or the other whether I will be retaking FAR. It's a planning thing. It's hard to plan study time and make a financial commitment to other sections without knowing the results of earlier sections.

If all of the other states can so much more promptly release scores, why does Wisconsin continue to use less timely methods? I just don't understand the reason when other states are more efficient.

I hear ya. I've been doing this song and dance many times…I'm past getting angry anymore. I'll be sure to post something if I get my score soon.

07STI – You're right. I don't know why I'm wasting energy wishing things were different. It doesn't help anything. I guess I should just get the new NTS for the remaining two sections, with the assumption that I've passed FAR and AUD already. But if I didn't pass FAR, I need to go back to that one and get it out of the way before January to avoid the new IFRS on next year's exam. There is certainly no benefit to the candidates for Wisconsin holding scores, so there must be some benefit to the state in holding the scores.

I know. It's really frustrating. Especially when you need to register for other sections. It really sucks when you don't know whether you're in Wave 1 or 2 at least. By the time we get scores, it almost feels like we might as well wait until Wave 2 scores are released.

    07STI – Yes, so true.

If anyone in Wisconsin finds their score(s) posted, please let everyone here know. I've heard various predictions for Wisconsin, including within the next few days to next week to after Labor Day? Does anyone have specific thoughts about that?

    Thanks!

I'm so annoyed and can't stop looking at these forums or the exam score site. There has to be something better to do with my time. I just called NASBA and she told me that I should have been able to see it online since the 19th. These people don't know what they are talking about! Now after she put me on hold, she says that no one in Wisconsin will receive their score until the third week of September. I find this kind of hard to believe, especially since last year Wisconsin released Scores August 27th.

    BEC - 08/12/10 - 85
    FAR - 10/01/10 - 84
    AUD - 10/30/10 - 81
    REG - 11/30/10 - 85

varhej68 – No one at NASBA knows how WI works. You can't call them to find out when you'll receive your score. Based on my experience over the last 2 years with this, only Geneva Mosely knows when the scores will be uploaded. I'm not sure if it's becuase she is the one pushing the button. Either way, NASBA cannot answer your questions. The only thing they may be able to help you with is whether you're in Wave 1 or Wave 2.

varhej68 – I agree with you, the definitely don't know what they're talking about. And I've taken exams in Wave 1 before and gotten them before the end of the testing window. I think WI just has a canned response they distribute to everyone when they ask about score and release dates.

I should qualify my response…No one other than Geneva Mosely at NASBA knows how WI works. She's our State represntative, so she's the only one who knows the timing…roughly.

It is completely ridiculous. The whole score release process is bad enough without them adding another week of wait time onto it. I was lucky enough never to be pushed into Wave 2. If someone took their exam July 1 and received a new simulation, they wouldn't receive their score until the end of September/beginning of October! It was always such a hassle when you were waiting for a score before registering for other exams. I ended up always waiting to receive my score before starting to study for my next exam. Because WI takes so long this whole process will end up taking a year. I would love to know why they do it this way.

I'd like to talk to her and find out the logic behind Wisconsin being so different than all the other states. Maybe someone can ask her to get a twitter to update the waiting world on what is going on over there!

My guess on why they do it this way is simply laziness. The fact that Geneva only responds to 1 out of 3 emails you send her tells me enough. I've emailed her about 10 times over the last 2 years. If I send an email on Monday, then I follow up on Friday with a forward. She still doesn't respond to that, so I send her another one the following Wednesday. She MIGHT respond to that one. Good luck to those of you who try contacting her. I gave up on trying to contact her last December.

If I am not mistaken, Geneva had posted something on this forum a couple months back…under the tag Wisconsin State Coordinator. Anyway, in her post she said that it is the Wisconsin State Accounting Board that had decided how to release the scores, waiting until all of the scores from in the Wave are released by the AICPA before releasing them to the candidates. I agree that she does have some issues responding and should probably just come up with a generic response she can send out to candidates or something detailing the score release process when their initial application is approved. But as she stated, she is only the one enforcing a decision which had been made by those higher up than she, so i am sure this whole process and being the contact for complaints regarding it is not something she gets a whole lot of joy out of. The process sucks, getting a different answer to the same question depending upon who you talk to, it is def frustrating I know. But what can we do, not a thing…which i guess only adds to the frustration.

on the bright side, at lease Jeff created this forum for us…so we can all be frustrated together

It seems very inefficient that Geneva, our state rep, is responding to a bunch of e-mails predictably asking the very same question. Why not do Twitter or send out a mass e-mail to all the WI candidates or something? I'm sure it's frustrating on her end, and it's extremely frustrating on our end. Why would the Wisconsin State Accounting Board recommend holding scores? Is it really more efficient when candidates are calling and e-mailing, requiring staff time and response because this state is so out of the ordinary? In most professional positions, a 24 – 48 hour e-mail response is required. The fact that it's hit and miss when contacting Geneva by e-mail, shows either that there is a lack of professional consideration or that the system is overwhelmed. Either way, something needs to change.
