    Hi friends,

Just passed my final exam and the excitement has been short-lived given the realization I need to complete an additional 26 units. (Thanks, California.) I only need 2 units for an “Accounting Subject” and the remaining 24 can be absolutely anything.

I’m just wondering if I could get those 2 units from a community college? I have heard something about being able to complete the units at a community college, but needing to transfer them to a 4-year university for them to be valid. Not sure how accurate this is.

    Thanks for the help!

    FAR - 81 (12/6/2013 - 1st)
    BEC - 82 (2/27/2014 - 1st)
    AUD - 96 (5/29/2014 - 1st)
    REG - 83 (8/29/2014 - 1st)

As far as I know Calif does not distinguish between college level.

    BA Mathematics, UC Berkeley
Certificates in CPA and EA preparation, College of San Mateo
    CMA I 420, II 470
    FAR 91, AUD Feb 2015 (Gleim self-study)

Yep, you definitely can and definitely should. There are a ton of online CC accounting classes (not to mention much cheaper than uni).

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

I submitted 15 accounting credits I needed to sit from a CA community college. No transfer or anything. I think you are solid. You may also want to consider the North Alabama online courses. I'm taking two of those to finish up my licensure requirements and the classes aren't bad in proce. About the same as a community college when you take into account the 250 dollar used book you need for accounting classes (rediculous).

    MBA,CMA,CPA, CFF?, ABV?

Congrats on passing the exam! I would totally recommend the UNA CPA Excel classes to you if you want to earn your units quickly. It is $475 per 3 unit course, most of the classes are accounting, there is also BLAW… I wanted to get all of my units done so that as soon as I pass the exam I can apply for licensure. I did 15 units this summer while working FT, I also have kids… I skipped most of the homework and just did the quizzes and exams to get done quickly. There is no participation score, no books to buy…

I do know that community college courses count. In fact I called because I took one in High School and I'm using it toward my 150. It was an accounting class too. As far as online CC Classes go, I was looking into Foothill, they seemed to have a good selection.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.
