Any help for IL process after passing the exam?

I passed all sections and now I need to get the ball rolling to obtain my license. I’m going to call ILBOA and IDFPR tomorrow to get some guidance, but I thought I would check here for some quick tips.

First of all, I am required to pass the ethics exam in IL, right? Anyone know how long this takes from start to finish? I saw the link on ILBOA… so I should go ahead and buy the self-study course from the AICPA website and get cracking, correct?

To obtain my license, should I just call IDFPR and have them walk me through it? I’m not too familiar with the IDFPR website and I’m not sure if there is just one standard application I need to look at for licensure.

One more question… I know IL is a 1-tier state now. I work in private and I believe I’m good to go as far as work experience… but just to confirm, is there only one sort of license or is there still a difference between simply being able to hold myself out as a CPA vs. practicing aduit/attestestation functions?

    Thanks for any help!!!

    1. Order ethics exam from aicpa. If your a member, you save like ten bucks after shipping and taxes.

    2. Go to IDFPR and print out licensed cpa packet. Fill out 4 page application, and any other applications applicable, such as the employer verification form, etc. Oh and cut them their check.

    3. Called both yesterday, and ilboa said to pass ethics exam first before applying to idfpr, and once ethics is passed ilboa will release examination info to idfpr so that it concurs with your idfpr application, and wallah!

*hopefully someone that has gone through actual process can shed more light.

My question is more concerning the work experience. Does past experience count toward this?

    FAR - 7/16/2012 *76 : 2.5mo [Exp. 1/2014]
    AUD - 8/31/2012 *82 : 1mo
    REG - 11/27/2012 *83 : 2.5mo
    BEC - 2/27/2013 *80 : 2.5mo LET'S DO THIS!!!
