I have my first credit expiring September 13th and wanted to know do you have to just sit for the exam before the date or sit and have your score back in order to not lose a credit?

You only have an 18 month window from when you first start taking the exams to pass all four of them.

Therefore, if you took the exam 17 months and 30 days ago, you would have to take all three remaining exams and pass them to not lose credit on the one.

The 18 month window isn't revolving every time you pass one exam and is merely a static window that starts after you complete the first one.

So if by just sitting for it you are safe? Or do you have to sit and receive your score back too from the state? I am planning on sitting the last week of August (~31st) which is before the September 13th date, but what if I don't receive my results by the deadline date? This is my last exam and I really don't want to screw this up on timing.

I believe you just have to sit for your exam. Never hurts to double check this kind of question with your State Board.

Yes. If you sit for your last exam before Sept 16 but don't get your score until October you've made it so long as you pass.

Just sit for the exam. If you pass, you're good even if you don't receive your score until your first exam expires. They might post “expired” on the website but if you pass it will change to “credit” or “pass” if you have passed all 4.
