When is enough enough? Find another path or keep going? - Page 2

I am pretty devastated. I just got my most recent REG score…48 – ouch. Crash and burn. I previously scored a 48 on reg once when I had NTS issues and took it without studying. I spent about 2 months on this and it HAD to be done or I lose credit for BEC and AUD. Now there isn’t enough time before April 15th to pass Far and reg. Now I am totally defeated. I realize how much time and money I’ve lost during the last two years trying to pass and it kills me. I also still need to go back to school to meet the 150 credit rule. I have worked in public accounting the last three years and now am questioning if this is the right path…

So now the question is between coughing up another couple thousand for updated materials and all the exams or choose another path….

I know everyone will tell me not to quit…and I don’t want to, but I can’t help but wonder if it’s actually meant to be.

    Insight accepted.

Hustlin: I just want to make you a cup of hot cocoa and pat you on the head and tell you everything will be Ok. I will not be the one to tell you to give up because I know first hand that if you want to be a CPA, you can be. You have to take a deep breath and decide which path works for you at this time. You can either go back and finish the 150 or you can keep with the exams.

A third alternative is to fight for this designation. Get an NTS and take one on April 1 and the other on April 20. It may be a long shot but it ain't over til it is over. Forget the study guides. Do non-stop MCQs and write fact nuggets in your NINJA notes and review them regularly. Review the notes every night before you go to bed. Fall asleep listening to the NINJA audio. Flashcards on your phone every time you have 5 minutes free. Have a basic understanding of every topic listed in the notes. (This list is not comprehensive but if it is in the notes, it is IMPORTANT) On MCQs, understand why the correct answer is right and the others are wrong. Look for patterns in the answers…three usually have something in common and one is different. Learn to look for these patterns when answering questions.

Can you go to your boss and lay it out on the line and ask for their support in the next few weeks? Use sick/vacation days to study? Get rid of social media and all distractions!

Turn this into a great success story instead of a great defeat! You can do this!!!

Wow. I was not expecting all this support.

My face lit up when I saw a post from the infamous Kricket! This was really what I needed to hear.

I don't want to give up. I have never been a quitter. I do hate to see my other two scores go…but honestly I didn't deserve them as much as some other people on here. I do, however think I may need a new review course at least for Audit since the new clarity standards.

I will admit that I don't think I really gave it my all. Jlough sounds exactly like me. I used to get so bitter about having to study and honestly I still do. When I was in college I couldn't wait until I didn't have to study or think about it and it seemed to never end. I'd be angry that my friends have jobs where they can do whatever they want outside of work. Now I am just bitter at being bitter….

    I do want this.

    I do need this.

I do want to pass before having kids/marriage.

Maybe losing the credits will be a good restart. I feel like to squeezed in FAR over and over again in the past year rather than getting organized because I was only looking towards doomsday and wasn't being realistic with how long it would actually take.

Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for all your support…..maybe I should become a ninja blogger my second time around to keep me accountable.

i can honestly tell you that i wasn't “MEANT” to be a CPA, i just worked damn hard and you can too cuz you're a badass. you already proven you can pass 2 sections so you just have to step up your game for the other 2 big boys. don't stress the expired credits, just keep plowing forward and 1 day you will wake up and be done.

i first passed AUD and BEC then struggled with REG and FAR, which caused me to lose AUD and BEC. i knew if i can pass once i can pass it again

as for the study material, are you giving 110%? if so, then its time to switch…it might not suit your learning style

    REG-65,71,74,73,70,74,79
    BEC-60's,60's,69,71,76*,78
    FAR-67,66,65,79
    AUD-54,60's,65,83*,69,80
    *expired

Hustlin- I didn't realize that you could take both in April and save your two credits. Why not spend the next 4-5 weeks and attempt FAR and REG? The worst that can happen is you won't pass, but at least you gave it a try. I think that if you let the opportunity go by to save those two credits, you may kick yourself later.

If you give it your all for the next month and then come up short, THEN I'd take a break to regroup. But if you have a shot, you should at least try for it.

    Good luck!

    I didn't know I was infamous! Bwahahaha

But since you said you want this and you need this, then you need to GO DO THIS! You can do it. I know what worked for me. I had to write an explanation of each question that I got wrong. For example, if I got a EPS question wrong, then I wrote the formula and where all of the numbers came from. If I worked another EPS question and got it wrong again, then I wrote the explanation again. Google is your friend on this journey. Youtube is your friend too. Use them! Get mad as hell and take back your life. It's time to punch the bully in the gut and take back your life!

You really only have to do one thing at this point… GET BACK UP! Then you have to STAND!

This video will show you what I mean when I say STAND!

    You heard the A71 fam…now Git”R Done……..

You are not alone. We all have struggled along the way, cried, faced other difficulties, ran out of money, and the whole long story. So get that cup of coffee, wine or what ever you drink with do it again attitude and let's pass. I have 30 days til far, and taking all the advice and using it. Just wanted to put in my 2 cents. You can do, it won't be easy, but you can do it.

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass
