I just went through the process in May, so it's kinda fresh for me. Jasmine, you'll need to complete and submit the following:
1. Complete application for CPA licensure – (Refer to link posted below)
2. Get a current 2×2 Photograph – Best place is Costco, they charge ~$5 bucks. It's the same size as passport photos. You can also do it at Walgreens and mail stores.
3. Criminal conviction disclosure form – (Refer to link posted below)
4. CA resident – Complete live scan service. Yelp around for a certified livescan place. Basically, they'll fingerprint you. Costs around ~$70-$80 bucks.
5. Write check for $50 Dollar processing fee –
6. Authorization for Release of exam/licensure info – Only necessary if you passed your exam in another state or already licensed OUTSIDE California
7. Experience – Have your workplace fill out either the general or attest experience form in the link below. Do NOT use black ink when your work fills it out – the CBA WILL reject it. Also, you might want to send this in separately with your work place as the return address. You're *supposed* to have your work send this in separately, although they did accept my work experience form when I sent it in with the rest of the forms.
8. Ethics – Refer to CalCPA.org/PETH
9. Transcripts – your transcripts have to be mailed to the CBA from your University directly. (Not from you) Make sure you have 150 units.
To wrap up:
-Mail: 1 through 5 in one envelope to the CBA. (Include Number 6 if applicable)
-Have your work place mail Number 7. (Or you can submit it, just have your workplace and boss name as return address) Remember to use Non-black ink!
– Complete ethics
– Have your school submit transcripts (This probably would've been done before you took the CPA, unless you had to take additional units to get to 150)
Phew that's it. Good luck!
