Hey has anyone heard back from the girl Amanda who posted about a month ago saying she had received 3 99’s so far and was taking BEC or REG. Did she ever get that final score?

    FAR - 85; BEC - 79; AUD - 92; REG - 86!!!

I remember reading that thread. I'm very curious too. @Amanda, tell us!

That is impressive. Hey, I'm not going to hate 🙂 After all, the best strategy/mindset for this exam is to gun for a score in the 90s. That way, if you hit a particularly nasty run of questions through sheer bad luck, you still pass.

Still an amazing performance even if she didn't hit 99 on the final part.

Ah, stop hating. She just over studied. Great performance though but not necessarily needed in practice. That does not make her a better auditor. Some of us are combining work stress, kids, wife, buzz, CPA, etc. Best wishes to Amanda. 75 is needed

I checked all EWS award winners for 2009, 2010 and 2011; her name was not on any of the lists.. Hypothesis: Either she dropped out or she was just lying…

    FAR - 10/07/2013 - 90
    BEC - 12/02/2013 - 92
    AUD - 71 - Rematch 5/27/2014 (This time I will own you)
    REG - 04/28/2014

@Guru – Wouldn't she be on the list for 2012? I don't remember when she was taking her exam, but I remember her post relatively recently so I think she would be on the list for 2012, not earlier.

@K917 – No, she would not be on 2012 list… She posted her first post 3 years ago, where she mentioned that she has passed 3 exams with 99 score… As far as I know, most of the board give you max of 2 years to pass all 4 exams… That means that she never got those scores or she won a lotto and dropped out…

    FAR - 10/07/2013 - 90
    BEC - 12/02/2013 - 92
    AUD - 71 - Rematch 5/27/2014 (This time I will own you)
    REG - 04/28/2014

For anyone interested, here is the thread in question:

Also keep in mind this is a 3 year old thread.

@Guru – Thanks for the clarification. I couldn't remember when she took her exam.

Unfortunately I'm starting to think it was a hoax. Based on her member profile that was the only thread she ever commented on, and she hasn't been back in the 3+ years.

How the hell do you get a perfect score I just dont get. I understand studying really hard and all that but not getting a single question wrong out of 72-90 McQ plus sims — blows my mind.

You think you could chalk one up to human error or forgetting a small detail..

I don't think a 99 represents a perfect performance (i.e., not a single question missed). I somehow ended up with that score for AUD (shocked the hell out of me), and I'm certain I screwed up a number of questions. Of course, some of those I missed might have been the experimental ones that don't count, but I really doubt they all were. All very mysterious.

I am not too sure why some are enamored by people who score 99. Like @cheesedog said, “I don't think a 99 represents a perfect performance (i.e., not a single question missed).” I agree with that concept. It seems like people take those scores to mean they are smarter than others or are going to be better accountants than others–not so. These scores simply represent how your are able to comprehend the material, such that you are comparable to a standard.

Future employers (even Big 4) could not care less whether you have a 75 or a 99–the point is you passed the exam. A good Accountant is an amalgamation of different items: cognitive ability, one's grasp of “common sense,” experience, etc. These scores are nothing more than that–scores.

As you can tell by my scores, I agree with you that the score doesn't matter in the long run, it's just the pass. If I were to score over an 80 I would regard it as wasted time. However, I wouldn't say that people achieving a 99 don't deserve admiration. They clearly went above and beyond what was required and accomplished a feat that not many can.

It's like building a model railroad. The builder puts in countless hours to get each and every minute detail just right, but most people will only see a toy train going in a circle.
