I have a test date scheduled for FAR (4 hr exam). My appointment time on my confirmation e-mail says it is 12:30pm and the duration is 4:30 hours.

Do they schedule in the extra 30 minutes so people show up 1/2 hr early? My question is whether or not I need to be at Prometrics at 12:30pm and the exam should start by 1pm, or do I need to be there by 12:00pm and the exam starts at 12:30pm? I would appreciate it if someone could clarify.

Sydbogg…. thanks, and glad you are disease free, lol. How well do the the headphones they provide work to block out noise? I guess it wouldn't hurt to bring a pair of earplugs and leave them in a locker if I have to. How big are their lockers? Large enough for a purse and coat?

I wish we could bring in snacks and water too, but I can understand how this could create distractions or messes in the testing area. I'm a ‘grazer' so I eat every 2 hours or so, but I'll just have to tough it out or take a break. It would be great if they shortened tests to 2 or 3 hours max. yeah, right!

I setup my appointment online and thought they could have been more specific about timing, or maybe I missed some fine print somewhere. Glad to have the help from Another71 posters.

Thanks for asking this question! I am sure when I get closer I would have wondering the same thing. Not sure how big the facility is that I will be going to, it is a 3 1/2 hour drive from here. Hoping the “weather” inside won't be too bad. That can be so distracting!

    Here we go......?

Honestly, I show up about 10 minutes before I'm scheduled to go in and its fine. The lockers are small, big enough for a purse but they have a coat rack. The headphones block everything out enough for me but it has never been a big issue. The only noise is the occasional clacking on keys. I have had really positive experiences with the testing centers and it should be the least of your worries!

RopinC… I can relate. I'm about 2 hours away from prometrics plus $8 in tolls, ugh! Planning to get to prometrics is a little more of an event than I'd like. I'm glad the posters here could clarify the slightly vague appointment date and total exam duration on the confirmation. One less thing to worry about.

I appreciate the help sydbogg! I feel better about it. I'll probably show up 1/2 hour early anyway just because it's my first exam, but it's good to know 10 minutes before works too (in WV).
