Question about Prometrics scheduling 4 1/2 hr time slots

I have a test date scheduled for FAR (4 hr exam). My appointment time on my confirmation e-mail says it is 12:30pm and the duration is 4:30 hours.

Do they schedule in the extra 30 minutes so people show up 1/2 hr early? My question is whether or not I need to be at Prometrics at 12:30pm and the exam should start by 1pm, or do I need to be there by 12:00pm and the exam starts at 12:30pm? I would appreciate it if someone could clarify.

You need to be there a half hour before your appointment time; they do not factor it in. You should show up at 12PM and expect to start the exam by 12:30PM.

I agree with Futile. The extra 30 minutes included in the 4:30 is for the initial launch, accepting of terms, reading of instructions, etc and the survey at the end.

Also don'f forget the at times very intensive searching. My last test I told the guy that if he kept probing he better be prepared to see it all the way through to the end.

The search thing is getting ridiculous. I had to actually pull up my pant legs this last time around. Seriously?

Another word of advice…. dress appropriately. My testing center had the air conditioner cranked and I froze for the 4+ hours of my exam. I was not happy

Haha, I was in a sauna for the 2.5 hours of my exam! I was not happy, either.

When I checked in last week for Auditing I had to pull up my pant legs, push up my sweater sleeves and sort of shake them out, and was given a VERY careful pass over twice with the metal detector wand! The Prometric guy actually scowled and grunted “never mind” when I lifted up my pant legs and he realized I was wearing tall boots under my pants! For a second I though he was going to ask me to remove them but then it appeared he decided to just give me another once over with the metal detector wand instead. I thought it was very odd but I tried not to let him see that he was making me uncomfortable!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who experienced TSA style security measures at prometric!!!

Good Luck Everyone, I hope you all see 75+ on Friday!!!!!!

Last time I was at Prometric, I heard one of the employees say that if we wanted to take off our sweaters once we started the test, we would have to leave the testing room. Meaning: leave room, sign out, remove clothing, put clothing in locker, sign back in. All because you got a little warm!

Wow, that sounds a little ridiculous. I didn't realize they were so…. thorough. I have no idea about the temperatures at prometrics where I'll be testing. I wonder if calling and asking them if they keep it cold or hot would be any help at all?

I have heard a lot about the temps at the test centers, but must say mine was pretty good. It was on the cooler side, but certainly not cold. Too warm would likely put me to sleep. The lady actually told me they keep it cool because people sweat so much and it stinks in there. Haha

@Lauryate I was told the same thing about my jacket. It's ridiculous. The only thing that really bothers me though is the no water policy. I am the kind of person who sips on water constantly…I HATE having to have a dry mouth for 4 hours. I wish they would just allow labelless clear bottles.

@10key I'm a fellow WV candidate. I've also tested in both of the Prometrics in WV. The temps are fine- maybe a little warm but they usually have a fan on for white noise. I've always been comfortable. Our centers aren't very big/busy or hardcore about security just a basic wand through and turn out your pockets. Don't stress about the logistics but I'd be happy to answer your questions if you have any! Good luck!

The center I test at is always on the chilly side. Last time I went to take a test, the lady who walked me to my spot goes “I know you're going to be be cold in this seat. Feel that breeze?” I was right under the vent. I'm generally chilly all the time anyway, so being under the vent was ridiculous. I literally couldn't move my fingers by the end of the exam. Honestly I completely attribute my almost didn't pass AUD score to being in that seat and freezing my ass of for 4 hours.

k917, now that would make me upset… having to sit under cold air blowing.

Are you not allowed to request a seat move?

Sydbogg – glad to hear from a fellow WV candidate, and thanks for the offer! I'll be testing in Charleston. Do they have the fan there for white noise? That would be pretty nice. It sounds like I won't have to worry about freezing. Do they allow you to bring your own ear plugs?

@10key Yes, they do have a fan for white noise there. I'm not sure about the ear plugs bc I've always just used their headphones and so far I haven't contracted any diseases!
