My audit exam date is for May 9th initially but now I am planning to take the exam in April. However, at this point I am not very sure on the date/week I want to take it in. Tentatively I am preparing for April 12th. My question is other than a chance of not finding the test center of my choice and time of my choice, are there any other things I need to consider? Is there a fee to move my exam earlier? I called Prometrics and left them a message last week but hv not heard back from them. I am thinking of changing my date by April 1 as by then I should be in a good shape.

Any advice?

If you have already scheduled the exam, you have a certain number of days to change it before you get charged a fee. The closer to test day, the more expensive it is to change.

Since your first schedule is May 9th, which is more than 30 days away from today, changing it would not cost you anything. Let's say you decided to change it (from May 9 to Apr 12) today, then later you realize you need another date. May 9 no longer becomes the point of reference but the new date, April 12. Since it falls between 5-30 days away, you will be assessed a $35 fee. Changes made less than 5 days prior will be assessed $88.20. Any changes made 24 hours our less prior to your appointment will forfeit your fees and you will need to reapply to your board of accountancy.

It cost me extra $222 for changing (5x) my AUD first attempt. On my AUD retake, I tried to avoid having assessed of changing fees. I ended up changing only once.

On my FAR retake, I made sure I would not incur any of these costly fees. Meaning, I should stick to my schedule no matter what. I scheduled it on the second week of January for 2/27 date. I was closely watching my schedule and where I was at my study pace. At the last minute of 1/27, I decided to change my 2/27 schedule to 2/28. It did not cost me anything to do that. If February had more than 28 days or so, I would have moved it back again and again and again. LOL

Amor D I can totally relate to what you did for FAR. I did the same for Reg. Changed it from 18 feb to 24th feb and then by mistake instead of changing it to 28th Feb changed it to 28th Jan and stupidly missed my exam date!! I was a no show!! I had to go through the application again, costing me upwards of $200 for the state board and the exam fee. So this time around I am so scared to make any changes..lol.

Got my audit exam date for April 14. I am glad I did cuz there was only one testing time available for that day and very few dates available for the week before.
