Do you have to pay for all sections checked on your application when you receive your NTS? Or can I pay for the actual exams one at a time? I’d like to avoid the re-application fee in the future if possible(aka passing on the first try). I just feel like its possible I’m throwing away money by not checking all sections.

I paid for each test before I took them. In Texas, our testing window starts once you receive your NTS and it is only 90 days long. So if you paid all at once, all four windows start. Majorly stinks. It is safer to pay and schedule each test as you are ready so you don't lose your fees for not testing before your window expires.

What state? In Illinois you can buy all four sections at once, one at a time or any combination, The NTS expire after six months. If you pay for four, you have to take all four in the six month time frame or re-apply/pay again/

In KY, you can apply for as many as you want each time, but you have to pay at one time for all the ones that you apply for at one time. So, my first app was for BEC and AUD, and I had to pay for those two at the same time…which started their 6 month clock ticking. However, I could then apply for FAR and REG individually and pay for them individually. (In KY, you pay $30/section and $30 one-time initial application fee, so applying for each section individually doesn't hurt you…but I didn't know that when I did my first app, so planned to split the exams into two apps).

Thanks for your responses, I'm applying in AZ. I believe AZ is similar to IL based on what BaxterCPA wrote
