Hey guys, my NTS for my final exam expires 8/14, and I really want to push my exam back as I’ve already fallen behind on my schedule. Is it possible to apply for a new NTS in the same quarter? Thanks in advanced! Ready to be done!

    A: 72 (11/11), 80 (10/12)
    B: 82 (12/12)
    R: 78 (5/13)
    F: 8/31/13

I'm curious about the answer to this one too..NTS ends 8/13 and need those extra couple weeks for AUD but want to take in August too. I heard it can take 2 weeks to get a new NTS and by then you are at the end of the month and there may be no test slots left. I will respond further if I find out anything this week.

I did further investigation on this issue….You have to let NTS expire before applying for another…According to the NASBA dot org Candidate bulletin:

PLEASE NOTE: The Notice to Schedule is valid for one testing event or until the expiration

date, whichever is first exhausted for each examination section and will include non-testing

    months.

Once an NTS has expired, you will need to submit a new application, including application and

testing fees. Fees submitted for an expired NTS cannot be applied to future examinations. You

cannot have more than one open NTS for the same section. You must receive the score or allow

the NTS to expire before you can apply for the same section again and receive a new NTS for

    that section.

I am based in California and found that under certain circumstances, you can have your NTS extended. I am going to apply to do so because of handling of my Mother's estate and also urgent medical care issue that also postponed exam efforts…You can submit with proper evidence and a State CPA analyst will make a determination in writing. Worth a shot if you can do it and save your NTS and any fees for exams not used.

    Good luck..!

    An update:

I contacted NASBA, and the only way that you can get an extension on your NTS is if:

    Military orders

    Death in the immediate family

    Extreme medical conditions

    Visa issues

So I re-paid my State fees, and then I had to have my old NTS cancelled to open up a new one. This was pretty easy, just emailed a scanned signed letter by me, and it was done. Unfortunately I had to repay all fees, but I needed the time so it was worth it!

    B: 82 (12/12)
    R: 78 (5/13)
    F: 8/31/13

NinjAbbott – Can you be more specified on how to do that?
