Need your feedback on these NY Prometric Test Centers

    Since I can only take tests on the weekends, I’m finding it extremely hard to find an open spot at my nearest Prometric Center, which is #0019 in Rego Park. I’m afraid to try others because some of these other centers may have a lot of computer issues. But since I need to keep retaking these tests, I’m afraid I have to find another site where I can test because my nearest Prometric center does not always have the time and date I want.

    Has anyone been to the following test centers? Which ones are good? And which ones should I stay away from?

    I've been to the one on 3rd Avenue and the 2 in Penn Plaza. All 3 were good. When I took AUD on May 31 (or 30; I don't remember) my computer froze at one point (supposedly I was clicking the research tab too fast) but the man from Prometric was able to get my exam back up and all was ok.

    Pleasant people, nice rooms, not very long waits, air conditioned…

    Penn Plaza ones are right near Macy's, Madison Square Garden, Penn Station…3rd Ave one probably also has interesting places nearby…I was there for just 1 exam so I haven't really explored the area…

    They were really good. The girls working there tried to calm me down before and after my test. Everyone was pretty friendly (for a NY place lol)

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

    I think the one in suite 1540, but I heard (I think on this website) that loads of people had that happening to them in different test centers in the last few days when you could take the test. Anyhow, I really was clicking back and forth very quickly in the research/sims tabs, and I guess the computer got annoyed and decided to make me wait…

    But as I wrote, the man there got the test working for me, all my answers were still there, and the time remaining was fine. (and I passed 🙂 )

    I took my next exam there, as well, and it was totally fine.

    I use 111 Livingston in Brooklyn.

    There is not a lot of parking near it, HOWEVER, the building itself has a pay-to-park garage underneath it. I don't know about you, but if you are driving to the place and you want peace of mind, I would pay to park. It took off so much stress. The computers are good, didn't notice anything “wrong” with them. AUD sims were a little slow, but I guess that is expected

    If you want to drive go to westbury on long island. I took three exams there…lots of lockers clean bathrooms and plenty of free parking. Near Roosevelt field mall

    NEW YORK- DONE

    @Peanut- How many times did you take it at #5844?

    I took AUD at that center two years ago and never went back because they had a major issue with my exam. Every time they loaded my exam, the computer kept crashing. They had to call Tech support and I had to wait about a half hour to take my exam. I was annoyed to no end. This is why I'm very hesitant to go back there.

    I've taken my other exams at #0019 and never once had any problem. Could be just a coincidence, I don't know. My only problem is that it's a very small center, so they get fully booked easily and it's so freakin' hard to schedule at a good time. I'm applying for my NTS tonight. I just check 0019's seat availability and they have a few spots open left for October, but not a single available spot for the end of November (which is when I want to retake REG).

    @CPAMan

    For sure 2/3 of the testing centers I went to have a few rooms. I never had a problem getting a seat online… I remember when I had a seat for AUD around May 20 and I wanted to push it off for the very end of May, all I had to do was check every couple of hours for a day or two and new seats kept opening (and getting filled). Then I had to act very quickly to get the seat I wanted, but that was because I waited for the end of May to do it…

    Between the 3 locations, there are seats available regularly, morning, evening, weekends…

    You know, I just checked those sites and the Seat Availability is also very poor there as well. None of them have a single spot open for the weekend. Geez. At least the 0019 ones have a couple open, but they're at terrible times. Looks like I will have to take some Personal Days off at work. I only get 3 per year. Sigh!! I can't wait until these tests are over!!

    @CPAMan

    Wow, you're right, they really filled up…

    Maybe take a seat during the week, but keep looking. In my experience, things open up all the time…

    It's weird, I don't remember it being like this the last 2 windows…

    Which exams are you planning on taking, and when do you want to take them? There's a BEC opening on Oct. 1 (Saturday) and Oct. 7 (Friday) at 1 Penn Plaza test center 0040…

    I can take a vacation day, but when I put in for vacation time, I need to wait for the higher up to approve. And by the time I get the approval, the seat availability may change. It sucks.

    I have taken all three exams at Penn Plaza center on 17th floor and I really like it even though the one closest to me is Rego Park. The service is good and I have never faced any problems during my exams. Would completely recomment this location.
