If NASBA won’t change your exam scores, appeal to the state board of accountancy to do it for you.
At least that’s what one desperate CPA candidate tried to do with one of the accountancy boards I am licensed in.
I’m an avid reader of the state accountancy board’s meeting minutes, and I read something that made me laugh out loud (I’ve redacted the names to protect the innocent – as well as the desperate):
“[CPA candidate] submitted a letter informing the Board that he has been unsuccessful in passing the exam asked [and that] since his grades were close to passing, that the Board mark up his scores to meet the required pass rate.
A motion was made by [Board Member 1], seconded by [Board Member 2] to reject his request. The motion was unanimously carried.”
Well, you could hardly blame the guy for trying. If nothing else, he saved $500 going the board route instead of the NASBA route.
