Freaking out over Application Process

    Hello,

I submitted my application to take the CPA on January 5th. I had not received my NTS, but assumed that the advertised six week wait time applied to the NTS. My application currently shows INCOMPLETE and I am really upset. I am 43 days in since I submitted my application. I submitted transcripts the same day that I applied. I sent all transcripts electronically.

The call center is closed until Monday. Any advice so that I do not forfeit the whole application fee(I paid for all four exams!).

Do call them as soon as you can. After I sent in my transcripts, didn't hear and didn't hear. I called them and they checked and said they had left out the y on Yahoo. They didn't bother checking the bounce. Later, something they sent went into the spam folder because they used some kind of oddball font.

Did you exceed the 45-day window for having all documents submitted?

If I can catch them early Monday, hopefully, I can figure out what exactly is missing. I don't care if I have to make the 7 hour drive to Nashville to deliver a document. My stomach is in knots thinking about losing almost a grand in fees.

As I recall, I was getting close to the window. It was important because it turned out they were telling me that my transcript was short by one communications course, so I needed to enroll in something quickly. I hadn't paid anything yet, I don't think. So not exactly analogous to yours, except that they also didn't take the initiative.

Thanks for responding. I really hope they are not going to tell me I am out of luck.

I'm also confused over deadlines. If I do not even have a NTS yet, am I still on the clock for completing all four parts of the CPA in six months? This whole process just seems unnecessarily complex.

There's no six month deadline, you have 18 months from your first passed exam to pass all four. If you applied for four NTS's all at once which is not recommended those may expire in six months and you'd have to pay for new ones if you haven't attempted all four parts.

Yes, I paid for all four parts so they will expire together in six months. I did not really think that through. Since the NTS have not been issued yet, I guess it will not be as big of an issue as long as I have six months from the date the NTS is issued.

Hopefully, I do not run into any type of issue with my application forms not being received in 45 days. I'm extremely worried NASBA is going to tell me that I am out of luck if I do not have everything turned in by Monday. Which is unlikely considering the holiday and the fact I don't even know what is not submitted. I hope the 45 day deadline can be extended long enough for me to overnight whatever is needed.

I had to call to follow up on every single step of my application. Mine also said incomplete for over a month, I finally called, they put me on hold, came back and said, “Yes, we have everything and we'll get it reviewed this afternoon.” If I hadn't called who knows how long it would have taken them to get to my application! And if I had called sooner I probably would have gotten my NTS sooner and would have been able to get my preferred date and time. Definitely make phone calls as often as possible because their process is a mess and they don't do any follow up with applicants. It's all on us to follow up with them.
