    Hi All,

I took FAR for the first time in July of 2011. I failed with a 74. I took i again about a year later and failed again with a 74. I passed on the third try about 3 months after that.

I got a call from NASBA yesterday. They told me that there was a scoring error on the July 2011 FAR exam, and that i had actually passed it at that time. What!!?? They tell me almost two years later?

They said that they will refund me the money for the other two exams that i didn’t actually need to take since i passed the first time, but that’s all.

Does anybody think i can make a case to get some kind of compensation for the hundreds of additional hours of studying for it two extra times?

I live in Oregon and could potentially be affected by this. Please let me know what you hear back from the Board.

    AUD - Pass
    FAR - Pass
    BEC - Pass
    REG - Nov

This has never happened (that we know of, anyway) and it was their first post ever … the skepticism was warranted…people try to pull stuff all the time and this sounded like a prank.

With that said … sorry OP 🙂

I would love for my 74 in REG July 2012 to be a passing score… anyone in Cali heard anything?

Well – I tested (both REG and FAR) in Qtr4 so I know this doesn't affect my score, but MAN…I have really lost faith now in the validity of my borderline scores…

    AUD 76
    BEC 81
    FAR 65, 78
    REG 72, 70, 81 [Praise the LORD!]

    COMPLETE 06/08/13!

Some of the apologies to the OP and LACPA are in the second thread that was started dealing with the same topic. That is also the thread that it was first mentioned to be true. 🙂

I have gotten three 74's in 2011. I got my fourth 74 in Q4 2012 on FAR. Ugh I am fuming to know this is true, just because I have since passed 3 of the exams. And if they can screw up grading, how is a candidate supposed to feel confident that their 74 (or four of them) are TRUE 74's?

Is Q4 2012 FAR confirmed to be involved in this? Thank you

    R 80* ... lost credit... 82* done forever!!!
    F 68, 68, 74, 78*

Yep, I've gotten five 74's! Wah!

I came back to this site after reading Jeff's email. The AICPA should be embarrassed of themselves. Aren't we accountants supposed to be detailed-oriented? Anyway, I wonder how many passed scores were also affected, or were only the boderline ones affected?

To the OP, I am very sorry. I've been at this a while and this is new territory, so please pardon my skepticism. I took FAR and REG multiple times during the time period affected. I went to NASBA's website to pay for my umpteenth FAR NTS and I noticed that the REG exam I took in July 2011 was listed twice. I got a 70 so one answer wasn't going to make a difference one way or another. That exam and all of the previous exams were listed as “Complete” but all of the exams after July 2011 are listed as “Submitted”. I got a 73 on FAR in the 3rd Quarter 2012, so maybe I'm just grasping at straws here, but are we 100% sure they are through?

If by some miracle of miracles, that 73 was in fact a 75, I wouldn't be upset or mad. They are human just like us, so I'll gladly look over a mistake every once in a while. Besides, I'm the first one to scream “Give me my score”, so I think I'm going to tell myself what I tell my clients; “You can have it right or you can have it right now. Which one do you want?” I'm going to go with right from now on.

I'm sure this is a reach but all my NTSs on NASBA after Sept 2011 also say “submitted” rather than “completed”. All contain REG. 74…73….1/7-praying.

Jeff could this mean anything or just coincidence. Does anyone who passed all sections of an NTS also have their status say submitted??

    @comeon75s-

Did you status change just recently? Did you notice this when you logged into your CPACentral account? This is very interesting.

I believe mine have always said submitted on there.

    A 74, 72, 69, 74, 87*
    R 80* ... lost credit... 82* done forever!!!
    F 68, 68, 74, 78*

Yep, I've gotten five 74's! Wah!

These particular NTSs have always said submitted. But older ones containing a combination of passing and failing grades say completed. I'm not sure why they remain as submitted even though Ive sat for each section within them.(which is the status assigned as soon as your NTS is provided).

@WICPA06 & Jeff: having a coding error as the cause for this mess, means that a person who received a passing grade could have failed the exam?

I´m wondering because I took FAR in Q3 2012 and I passed it, but it was a borderline grade.

    Thanks!
