Failed FAR

I already knew it was too good to be true, but I’m shocked how close I was. Somewhat. I got a 62. 13 more points would’ve made my day. Heartbreak if I got less than 50. I can’t take my retake until Jan of next year. I’m still waiting for my AUD score sometimes during Thanksgiving. Depressed? You bet I am! Sad? No, I have a headache because I didn’t get enough sleep due to my Temp Job. I wanted to study for BEC and “maybe” go for it in December. I haven’t even looked at BEC. I assumed it to be the easiest. Am I under underestimation?

My plan is ruined, so anyone have any advice of how I should proceed? Study for FAR and forget about BEC? Study for BEC and take it? BTW, I already have my NTS for BEC and REG. LOL (What was I thinking?)

PS: Not sure if this was true or not, but I heard someone say that you can get a report of where your weakness in the exam was. Is this true?

    FAR - 62 (10/2/13), 50 (5/30/14)
    AUD - 73 (10/30/13), 66 (5/6/14)
    REG - 69 (4/8/14)
    BEC - 66 (2/27/13), 73 (4/21/14)

Might as well take BEC December 6th. If you spend the next two months studying for FAR you might take it easy.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

Yes, you get a score report. In some states, you only get the score report if you fail, while in others you get it regardless.

    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    BEC - 84!!!!
AUD - 99!!!!!! CPA exam complete.

@ Study Monk: I don't want to pity myself even more. Mind as well keep going and hope that I did better on AUD. I think a 66+ is good enough, but I left the testing center WORSE than when I took FAR. I felt pretty calm and confident during FAR though. For AUD, 50/50. *sighs*

@ Yeah, I tried googling that. I got to something called a Candidate Performance Report. My question, how do I get one?

KADFC: Don't give up! FAR was a fail and you can't do anything about that until Jan 2014; AUD is pending and you can't do anything about that at this point either… so focus on what you can do. Do you think you can study and take BEC in Dec? If so, schedule it and knock that out of the park. When does your BEC/REG NTS expire? If possible,I would re-take FAR (62 is not the worst score so hit the books and learn that material) at the beginning of the Jan/Feb window and REG at the end. I hope you pass AUD so you don't have to worry about putting that back in rotation. Good luck!

Take a deep breath and hit those books!

I am in a Non-NASBA state and our score reports are sent to us via snail mail. I don't know if they are emailed or snail mailed in NASBA states. What state are you testing?

@ KADFC, I know what you are feeling. I failed FAR with a 70 and I am taking REG at the end of November. Like @ ajs, get angry and be motivated. That is what I am doing. I felt sad, angry and even cried a bit but told myself, this is not going to happen in REG.

So let's be motivated. I plan on taking FAR again JAN 2014, so we can study together and motivate eachother. I plan on doing 300 mcqs this weekend and go through Jeff's videos 3 times for REG.

Cheer up, lets get angry, you pass Audit and I pass REG. And when JAN 2014 comes, we squash FAR

@ Baxter: That's the thing I don't know. These past few days, I'm starting my job at 6:30 am and work until 3 or 4 pm. I've been informed that there is a possibility that we might start at 4 am in the upcoming week. This will be all over before Thanksgiving. The job itself is pretty easy even though I've never done any type of office jobs. The issue is me adjusting my sleeping hours. I usually sleep at 12:00ish. Now I'm forcing myself to sleep before 9:30. I want to study, it's the motivation that I'm kind of lacking. Maybe I can “try” to take a nap? I don't know

My BEC/REG doesn't expire until 4/26/14. I got it not long ago just to take AUD. Yeah, I'm thinking of re-taking FAR in the time frame for the first score release in 2014. To be honest, I really don't mind re-taking AUD. Strange? I want to become an auditor because it is my favorite topic. In someways, I hope I don't pass AUD… I only used 24 days to study for it; 12 hours each day. On top of that, I've prepared for FAR for over 4 months and I didn't pass. If I pass AUD with 24 days of studying, it will make no sense right? FAR, I don't want to re-take, but that's not my choice to make.

I'm in Oregon, so I'm pretty sure that's a NASBA state (I checked). However, when I checked their website, I don't see anything regarding a performance report. Oregon was a snail mail state too. Thanks for your suggestions!

@ ajs_BABELs: I read that topic, but I'm wondering if it actually works or not. So angry that I can't study and piss everyone off? Lol. After I found my score for FAR, I started to have an attitude. I didn't mean it, and so I'm trying to fix it. I need to improve my EQ. Thanks, I will try to get angry though!

@ KRina: I think I would've been even more depressed if I had gotten between 70-74 for FAR. So close, but yet so far. Yeah, I think I'll try to motivate myself with some cake and candy. I skipped Halloween altogether, but there are same candy left. I wish there was a guide of how to be motivated when you're living in a rainy state. Thanks for the encouragement though!

There is something that I could've done differently; now that I think about it. I only studied with CpaExcel and at the last moment did I tried the Ninja notes. If I could've finished reading that at least twice, maybe I would've done better. On top of that, I used WTB for AUD, but I didn't touch it for FAR (I forgot I even had WTB because I was too busy with the MCQs from CpaExcel). So much I can do. It's been a month since my FAR exam, so I don't know what's my weakness or strength. So that's why I want to see my performance report. I'll concentrate on my weakness first, then have a few weeks of just reviewing everything.

Anyways, regardless, yeah I'm going head on into BEC. No point just blaming myself now and not doing anything about it.

For the rest of the year, focus on finishing FAR. You don't even know if you've passed AUD. You need to focus on getting those two done before you move on to BEC. I think you are spreading yourself too thin and trying to do too much too soon. Take the time and study FAR and to crush it. With the hoidays, January will be here sooner than you know.
