Facing losing my credits and starting back at zero + TIPS PLEASE! - Page 2

    Freak out level = maximum.

    Here’s my story:

I started this brutal trip in 2011 shortly after graduating and being hired by a public firm.

I did not pass until my second round in 2012 (BEC in October and AUD in November). I finally began to see the light….and now it is fading.

Since that point I have taken FAR four time and spent the entire year trying to pass and not even getting in the 70’s. After a hectic busy season and my credits expiration looming (BEC on April 20 and AUD in May), I decided to switch gears into REG.

As usual, it is not going as expected. I started by doing Wiley MCQ (all of them) topic by topic in the B-law section. I’m solid on those I got through but started to panic this weekend when I realized I haven’t even touched tax. I have 10 days left and for the last three have been doing 20 set questions of all MCQ, and keeping a notebook divided by module to take notes on EVERYTHING I learn in the process.

I wanted some advice from those who may have been in a time crunch. I have the Audio and Ninja notes from 2013, Becker 2012 and Wiley 2012 (Jeff, if you see this, please read my e-mail requesting updates!). I am thinking of spending this weekend (at least a day) going through my Becker notes from the lectures and combing them onto my Ninja Notes so get a broad overview of everything, and then go back to hitting the MCQ.

I am even sleeping with the audio notes hoping somehow it absorbs…. I really have to pass REG or FAR this window or I am sure I will lose a credit if I try to take them both again before April 20th.

Please, Ninjas give me some hope or advice….:( For those successful smarty pants, what would you do in these last 10 days (or for the end of the testing window for that matter)

    B 71 - 79 EXPIRED
    A 69 - 75 EXPIRED
    R 65 - 48 - 45
    F 56 - 61 - 65 - 64

Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Wiley Text and Ninja Notes

Experience - Done, like WAAAY done.
Still need 30 more credits, in basket weaving (gotta love new CA requirements)

If I were you, I would keep your REG test date and then schedule FAR for February 28. That way, You will have another shot at both in April.

Take a deep breath and focus on the material. You can do this! Read over the tax material and then do tons of questions. If you get a question wrong, research it and write down why it was wrong. This will create a set of notes to study that covers your weak topics. It was a pain and time consuming, but I told myself that was one less question that I would get wrong on the actual exam.

I know this is easier said than done, but try not to panic. Otherwise, you cannot absorb the material. Good luck!

I think focusing on one part and starting from scratch will really help. That is what I did for my first serious round, I took each exam like it was the first time I took it. Hang in there!

CA CPA - All because of the journey listed below
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    FAR - 53('10), 8/25/12 79 PASSED!
    REG - 66('11), 69('12), 12/06/12 77 PASSED!!
    BEC - 58('10), 74('12), 01/05/13 77 PASSED!!!
    AUD - 43('11), 66('12), 69('13), 74('13) 7/29/13 85 PASSED!!!!!

(Combinations of Roger, Yaeger, Wiley Book, Wiley TB, & NINJA Notes)

    Thanks, everyone.

I remember when littlenumber and I were in the stuggle…those were the days. 🙂

I might bust my *** this weekend to see how far I can get and reschedule before the 7 day fee increase if I need to. Any advice on the best method?

Sorry I keep bringing this up but didn't realize there is another option:

    1. Original Plan: Cram for the next ten days and take REG on the 18th and FAR on the 20th of Feb

    2. Option 1: Postpone REG to mid-end of FEB, and schedule FAR mid April

    3. Option 3: Cram for the next ten days and take Reg on the 18th and FAR early April, giving me 15-18 days to cram for FAR real quick again (if needed)

    AGHH what to do…

    B 71 - 79 EXPIRED
    A 69 - 75 EXPIRED
    R 65 - 48 - 45
    F 56 - 61 - 65 - 64

I suggest option 3 but only you know if you can really focus hard. I suggest studying 1 or 2 chapters a day that you are struggling with so that you can fully understand it. (My ADD child can't focus on more than one subject at a time or it's too overwhelming.) READ your notes and do the MC. I've noticed a lot of repeat MC in WTB and if there is something I'm not getting, I re-read my voluminous notes and/or the Wiley Book. For most people, I'd say read some Ninja notes every day but for you that's probably too much.

I don't know if you can access it but Roger has on his website a 3, 6,or 12 mo. study plan where he outlines which chapters a day to study. Do this for FAR and stick to a schedule. Only you can decide which option to do. Worse case, you fail and loose a credit. Best case – PASS! Good Luck!!

If you do option 3, you can't take FAR again in April. You can only take it once per window…

    REG - 76 (7/13)
    FAR - 83 (8/13)
    BEC - 87 (10/13)
    AUD - 84 (1/14)

Since I've been in your shoes, I can honestly say that you can do this. Just study like your life depends on it. Go over flashcards in line at the grocery story. Listen to the Ninja audio all day long at work. Read everything you can get your hands on. Then start working MCQ's. Work them until your eyes bleed. If you get it wrong, research the topic and write, in your own words, an explanation to the question every time you get it wrong, even if it's on the same topic. I'm ADD myself and getting pissed off really helped me! Having faith in yourself helps too. Confidence is a huge part of passing. If you don't believe you can do it, then you won't do it. Know in your heart and mind that you can do this, that you deserve to do this, that you are going to do this and you WILL DO THIS!

    Kricket for President!

    Seriously – Most Inspirational Ninja!

Well, I decided to go with Option One – space them out without a second chance and really give it my all.

Wish me luck! I have to, want to and desperately need to be done!
