When I took my break between testlets, I reminded I forgot to turn off my cell phone, so I took my bag from the locker, and put my notes beside me incautiously when I was finding my phone.

Just when I was putting my phone and notes back in to my handbag, the prometric worker showed up and said I shouldn’t review my notes during break. But I didn’t! The prometric worker just didn’t listen, he filed a report finally but let me back.

Will my exam be voided due to the report? Have anyone heard of a similar story before and what was the outcome?

It's strange how lax prometric seems to be about breaks. god forbid they give you a normal piece of paper and a normal pen instead of that laminate garbage and marker that dries out in 15 seconds of use, and a 4 function hand calculator instead of the awful on-screen one, that is definitely high risk for some strange reason. but sure, take a break and go to your locker, take a walk, whatever your heart desires, we won't be monitoring you whatsoever, we trust you not to compromise the integrity of the test, it's not like that is our sole function or anything…

Seriously – what's the deal with the laminate boards? When I took FAR, I was told I wasn't allowed to have additional laminate boards unless I completely fill up the other two. Why? Are they precious like gold? If I tell you I'm probably going to need three (I did), why can't I have 3 from the start?

So then, when I fill up my boards like I knew I would, I raised my filled-boards into the air, and the Prometric lady stared at me suspiciously and then slowly made her way over with replacements. Which she only handed to me after carefully inspecting my old ones to make sure that there really was no more space. And then I was not allowed to keep the old ones!

Those laminate boards are high-security business.

Once you fill up one board go ahead and raise your hand for another…that way you don't get stuck waiting to write something down. I always check my markers as well to make sure they write well. If not, I ask for others.

Oh no, this lady was very clear: BOTH boards had to be completely filled before I was allowed to raise my hand. It was very serious. She repeated it three times until she was sure I understood.

And then she SCRUTINIZED them to ensure they were completely full and then only when she was satisfied that they were full, she gave me two new ones and insisted that she take the two old ones.

Seriously, I think Prometric might have been holding her family hostage over this, because there was no wiggle room.

That's nuts! My Prometric is pretty accommodating.

The very first time I took my test, I asked if I could use an eraser.

My Prometric guy told me I am not allowed to erase, they will give me another one no problem.

They scanned my laminate board afterward to submit (to make sure we don't draw anything offensive or write a poem lol ).

Other guys at the same Prometric taking different exam had a plain paper and pencil(with eraser).

So it's not Prometric, it's the CPA exam who give us laminated scratch paper. At least we are not given a whiteboard marker.

    THAT would drive me nuts.

I don't think they submit the laminate boards – When I was getting checked out I saw one of the promentrics ladies with a stack of them, including the ones I just handed in, spraying them down and wiping them off with paper towels.

Also, doesn't it seem insane that you can't erase – what if you write out a whole forumla and you just want to switch the numbers for another problem to save time. I don't feel like there should be any issue with that!

Slightly off topic, but since we're talking about how strict prometric can be…at my last test I had my hair in a pony tail. It was giving me a headache so I took it down to readjust and put back up. Before I even got a chance to put it back up the lady was at my side telling me that it is not allowed and my hair has to stay up. I just looked at her blankly. I have fairly thick hair, but I highly doubt the answers are going to come falling out of it…

they have missteps there too, ya know, they ask you to turn around bend and spread, even those tiny (coin?) pockets in the front, they are so tiny, i barely can stick my finger in it, let alone anything else.

so one time i had a hoodie on with obvious pockets, and she actually forgot to tell me to turn them inside out, and then i realized i had paper napkin there (runny nose) which could easily be a cheating paper or whatever. Go figure

yeah but even if you managed to get the paper into the test center in your hoodie, there is almost noway you would actually be able to use it during the test without them noticing

I was wearing a new shirt to my exam, and didn't know there was a zipper pocket in the back. She says “And your back pocket?” and I dug in my jeans again. “No, your SHIRT pocket.” Oops. Thankfully everyone just thought it was funny. I complemented her sharp eyes.
