I haven’t yet applied or been approved to take the exam (will soon), but I was wanting to know how many dates you can choose to take a section per exam window? ie how many options do they typically give you to take the exam during the month of April and May? Does it depend on where you live? Can you take any section every weekend? I’ve tried searching for the answer but there is nothing out there about specific dates.

Confidence is a prerequisite for success

    FAR - 1/1
    AUD - 1/1
    BEC - 1/1
    REG - Q4

There are four parts to the CPA exam ( FAR, AUD, BEC and REG). Each section may be taken only once per window. When you receive the ok to take the exam, you purchase a NTS for each part you'd like to sit for. Be sure to see how long each NTS is valid for. I'd recommend not purchasing all 4 at once until you know how long it takes you to prepare for a section.

Once you have the NTS, you go to the prometric website and look for your nearest test center. You type in your NTS number and you'll be shown available dates for your section. Most centers are open 7 days a week but the available days/times will depend on whether other candidates have signed up for the day you want.

Note-even if your NTS has an expiration date in 6 months, once you appear For the exam, you cannot use the same number again. If you have to retake a section you have to purchase a new NTS.

    Hope that helps.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

I think what you're asking is what the selection of time slots is like from Prometric. My testing center had slots every day at 8:00, 12:00, and 4:00. If there's an open computer, there's an open computer. It doesn't matter if you're taking FAR, BEC, REG, or AUD. You'll be in the test center with people taking engineering exams, teaching exams, ethics exams, etc., so it's not like certain time slots are for specific exams, let alone specific sections. I never had a problem getting my preferred time slot (Saturday mornings at 8:00), but I'm sure it helps if you book further in advance.

To mla's point, you can only take each section once per quarter. You could take all four sections within two months, but you'd have to wait until the next window to take any one section a second time.

I was wanting to know how many dates you can choose to take a section per exam window?

    – 1 section per window. So if you look Far in, let's say, January. You can take it until April or May (different window).

ie how many options do they typically give you to take the exam during the month of April and May?

    – It depends on where you live and/or what schedule your test center provides.

Does it depend on where you live?

    – Yes

Can you take any section every weekend? I've tried searching for the answer but there is nothing out there about specific dates.

    – Maybe. I looked at test center's schedule. They didn't have Saturdays/Fridays, but I checked today and they did. Go figure.

-> Academic -> Uniform CPA -> Country/State -> Next -> Check for Availability -> Enter Zip Code -> Check Availability

    FAR - 62 (10/2/13), 50 (5/30/14)
    AUD - 73 (10/30/13), 66 (5/6/14)
    REG - 69 (4/8/14)
    BEC - 66 (2/27/13), 73 (4/21/14)

Thanks guys, sorry if my question wasn't clear enough. That's good to hear that you can take if if a computer is available. I would have assumed something like that, but wasn't sure since I haven't registered or been approved yet. I was just making sure there would be multiple dates per testing window. Thanks!

    You can also go here:

    https://securereg3.prometric.com/landing.aspx?prg=CPA

and after entering your state, the 5th option is “Search for Availability” and you can see what test times/dates are available at the testing center of your choice, even without a NTS. I found it useful while waiting for my first NTS.
