Education Requirement – Best way to get 15 more credits?

I’ve passed REG and AUD and will be taking BEC 12/5/13. I’m hoping to be completed with all the exams sometime in February but will still need to obtain 15 more credits to be eligible for certification as I graduated with only 135 credits (I’ve got the experience requirement fulfilled already). I’m just wondering if others have any advice on how to go about getting additional credits. I’d like to get these 15 credits as soon as possible but don’t think I could handle a full-time course load while working my full-time job so at this point I’m looking at taking online courses either during spring/summer semesters or summer/fall semesters. Are there any institutions that others would recommend taking online courses at? Any advise would be appreciated!!

    REG: 78 (5/31/2013)
    AUD: 59 (8/31/2013); 81 (10/8/2013)
    BEC: 80 (12/5/2013)
    FAR: 2/28/2014

Since you need that many units, I'd consider getting a master's degree. 5 more classes and you'll have your master's!

CSUS in CA has a great online MSA program. You take one class at a time. If you have a full time job, that's the best way to go.

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

    @tough kitty..you must be a recruiter there…just kidding.

They are on my maybe list now:)

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

    Matt,

I am in the same situation. You can spend a lot of money and get a masters. You can take classes online or at a community college. You can go back to where ever you got your bachelors and get a minor.

Do you need units in accounting or just units? You can take art classes or learn a new language. You can take a bunch of physical education classes.

I need 6 units of accounting and 6 units of ethic classes, so I don't have the freedom you have. Consider yourself lucky in that regard.

Online programs I have looked at are Berkeley Extension, UCLA extension, Santa Monica college, and Golden Gate University. Community colleges near me usually have online Quickbook classes.

Same boat here. I need 4 additional upper level accounting classes to get licensed. My plan is to just take them at the local university because I get reimbursed at a state tuition rate. Online classes are usually more expensive and while definitely more convenient, I would have to pay the difference in tuition. Not ideal on our tight budget. I'm not looking forward to wasting my time on those credits AFTER I pass the CPA exam, but those are the rules in Florida. Oh well.
