Credit extension – CA or any other state

Has anyone had any luck with getting their passing credit extended for a section or sections they might be losing due to score release delay in q3 18 month window closing in during this time?

CA website says they will evaluate on a “case by case” basis… I wanted to know if anyone had success. I understand some states like TX, CT? are giving a three month extension to those in this particular situation. Not CA to my understanding.

    Many thanks!

I haven't been able to find anything pertaining to CA as well. Looking to call the Board this week, fingers crossed for the extension.

Unfortunately, California will not be granting credit extensions due to the delayed score release :(.

That's the response from the board that I got as well. What are your thoughts on transferring to say Texas where they do offer the extension? How late can you transfer even? I take my final section tomorrow (last day I can still sit before window expires). I don't find out results for FAR that I took in Q2 until august. Technically I could have taken FAR this window before 18 month was up. Makes no sense when CA can't see the issue here for candidates like me. Ridiculous

I am a fan of steaks! But yeah this is ridiculous, the delayed release is agonizing. Good luck tomorrow, i'll be testing Sunday.

I'm certain CA has not yet had to rule on any case, and won't need to until scores are released in August?

    See response below…

Thank you for contacting California Board of Accountancy (CBA). The CBA will not grant CPA Exam credit status expiration dates due to the delayed release of exam scores for the second window of 2017 prior to the applicant actually being prevented from sitting for the CPA Exam. You may submit your request when scores are released in August. Extension Requests will be considered on a case by case basis per management. The CBA will only consider extensions requests based upon your inability to test because of any of the following extraordinary circumstances:

    (1) Death of an immediate family member. Documentation, such as a copy of the death certificate, must be submitted.

    (2) Catastrophic illness, contagious disease, or major traumatic injury to the candidate or immediate family member (spouse, child or parent). Submit an original letter on letterhead from the physician, which includes the date(s), nature of the illness, and the physician's signature.

    (3) Natural disaster (earthquake, flood, fire, etc.).

    (4) Non-issuance of visa for travel to the U.S. Documentation, such as an official letter from the U.S. Embassy or a copy of the passport indicating a visa was requested, must be submitted.

    (5) Other good cause.

Worth it to complain then. I'm going to submit a written appeal assuming I failed FAR which I won't find out until august.

I would encourage people in this situation to appeal their cases to CA. The more folks complain the likely we are to see some action. Why should we have to retake a passed section because they're delaying the scores??

I could have retaken FAR and hopefully passed all within 18 months if they didn't delay the scores.

    Good luck on Sunday!!

I would worry about passing the exam first. If you do not pass, then you do not have a leg to stand on…..until you have passed all 4 exams you have no grounds for appeal. I do not think the BOA deals in assumptions about results.

If you don't pass this time, then pass it as soon as you can, then file the appeal.
