Computer shut down during exam!

I took REG today and my computer crashed after testlet 3 as the sims were loading. I freaked out and yelled for the prometrics guy. He restarted my computer and my exam loaded sims and I worked through them. I asked what would happen, if my exam would all be transmitted, etc etc and the guy said he didn’t know. He told me to file a complaint and hope for the best.

Has this happened to anyone else? What happened with your exam? Thanks!

Yep, happened to me after I finished my first Sim. I was waiting for the 2nd Sim to load and the computer crashed. There was some popup window and error message (like something java related) but I was writing something on my notecard and barely saw it. But yeah the screen went blank and then back to the opening prometric screen. The prometric guy was able to check from his computer that my test was saved. He just restarted my computer and I was good to go — answers from Sim 1 were all there. It was a bit jarring, but no problems in the end (I passed)!

I had issues with an exam and I contacted the number on the letter they give you when you leave the testing center and the woman confirmed that my exam was saved and submitted. It helped ease the worry that something went wrong.

This happened to me on FAR when I was about to begin my SIMS. Prometric automatically saves very frequently, but maybe call to confirm it was saved just to ease your mind!

I had a computer lock up on me when I was taking Audit. Also on the sim section, as a result was not able to finish. Got the score it was a 74. I protested, AICPA said G.F.Y. you can reapply and resit, so mail us some more money. SFB

Not that Its fair or anything. But if you want to be a CPA you have to be willing to go thru this kind of situation, its part of the journey, yes it sucks.

But the thing is, if you just have to resit, and you were close, then going thru the question bank another time or two, won't take that long to do, and you'll slam it the 2nd time around. The reapplication and exam fees at least in CA is about $200, so its a very nominal expense.

Proper successful attitude is important. Don't expect any sympathy over a non passing score, for any reason at all, the AICPA won't budge, and don't expect them to. So don't waste any time over it, just reapply and resit while the material is still warm, and you'll get thru it.

    Passed all 4
    Done!
If I can pass, you can too!
