Application Questions

I have two questions about the application to sit. I understand it may be different by state but a general idea will help answer my questions.

First I know they say if you don’t plan on sitting for that part of the exam in the next 6 months dont apply to take it since your NTS will expire. Here in NC the initial app fee is 230. Say I apply to take three parts with my initial app, do I have to pay the 230 again when I want to take the 4th test?

My other question is, I have enough credits to sit but wondering if you lose your fees if they deny your application to sit.

    Thank you.

According to the NC website, the fee for a re-examination application is $75, so no, you will not have to pay the $230 each time. https://www.nccpaboard.gov/Clients/NCBOA/Public/Static/feeschdl.htm#Licensing

This is from the small print in the Applicant Affidavit at the bottom of the NC exam application: “All fees and costs paid with an application for the Uniform CPA Examination are non-refundable and cannot be used toward a future Uniform CPA Examination application.” So I would say that yes, you lose your fees if your application is denied. You could always contact the state board to ensure you are 100% eligible to apply before actually applying.

**Disclaimer** I am from CT and have found the above from the NC website. If anyone from NC has a different experience than the above, talk to them. Keep in mind that the state board is always the best way to go when eligibility and fees are in question.

from NC…yes $75 on the next re-app. I applied for an NTS before I had finished a semester in college in which I would have my 150 & 30 in ACCT….my NTS was good from Nov-April, and they sent a letter saying I had to finish the semester before I could sit. Call/email the nice lady Phyllis Elliott [PhyllisElliott@nccpaboard.gov] she is a great help.
