I submitted my resume and cover to via https://accountemps.com/ for an accountant position. I got an interview next week. I don’t know, much about accountemps.com and how it works. My friends are telling me, they will just waste my time by send me to Temp jobs only. Right now I don’t work, I would like a FT jobs.

Has anyone used this site and landed a good job or at least went from Temp to Perm.?

I used Robert Half when I was looking for a job, leaving public accounting. I ended up going to work for accountemps as a “salaried professional” which was supposed to mean I was guaranteed work, it wasn't just a one time temp assignment. It wasn't what I REALLY wanted, I wanted to get out of public accounting and they were trying to fill a position at a small firm. They hired me on as a salaried professional because they had to in order to get me. I kept looking and found my current job a few months later. No regrets though! That was a great experience. Met some great people. RH/Accountemps is a HUGE company and the staff are going to vary. Some are very good, some not so great. It is very sales driven. I think if you are looking for work it can't hurt to try. These recruiters may be around for a long time and you could potentially make contacts that will get you a job, if not now, in the future. In my area, every recruiter I've talked to has worked for RH at some point.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

My first accounting job was through Accountemps, as a 2 week assignment. I was hired on full time, and promoted twice in 3 years. Now that I think of it, I always use a recruiter of some type.

    My bad turned good experience:

When I was hired on through a placement agency the agent I worked with told me the hiring manager was not willing to budge on salary. I respectfully declined the job offer. The next day the manager contacted me directly to ask why I declined (she was not allowed to hire me direct because of the placement agency contract) she was genuinely curious.

So I told her, and she was not happy with the agent, as she was, in fact, willing to negotiate salary.

We ended up agreeing on the max salary the agent told me about, plus a sign on bonus to get me where I wanted to be. With the offer guaranteeing I would be at or above the salary plus bonus in 1 year.

It was a perfect negotiation, we all got what we wanted.

The agent missed out though, had she been willing to push and try to negotiate, she would have had a higher commission. Commissions don't include sign on bonuses.

I've kept that in mind any time working with an recruiter. If I it gets to salary negotiations, I let me manager know I am willing to sign on at a lower salary in order to save the company commissions expense 🙂 it has proven successful!
