Hey everyone…couple weeks left and im trying to make sure im well prepared…i have a couple questions on the memo’s for whoever has taken this part already.

in the practice questions, the memos are usually addressed and signed already…so does this mean i just start from opening paragraph and then end with the conclusion paragraph and dont add in Dear so and so, and regards, me….since its already there? if that makes sense…..

second question may be stupid..but is there a research function on the exam in case its a topic that im clueless on and need a little something to get me going?

In addition, any other tips on these would be greatly appreciated. Just want to go in there with the best game plan on constructing the memo or letter exactly how they want it to maximize points on them..

    thanks

Stick to three paragraphs…Take a look at the AICPA released memos and follow that model…No, there is no research function….Good night…happy dreams..peace and love! and good luck with BEC!

Could anyone please give me some tips for WC when I don't know about the topic at all? I haven't taken AUD yet and even FAR and REG, I already forgot details.

Is it better to read all released simulations to get knowledge or to review textbooks of other sections?

This is my tip for WC. Treat it like a formula. No matter what your question is or what your point is, it's all about presentation. You can usually respond in about 4 paragraphs, with your thesis paragraph being the most important as it will serve as your map:

So lets say the Question reads: Company is considering increasing PTO for employees, explain what are the benefits for or against it:

    Response

    I. I'm writing in regards the companies current discussion in regards to increasing PTO for employees. I believe this would be a great reason for 3 main points. First this would increase employees moral since it would….. Second it would allow employees more time to separate work life balance, which will allow for better employee retention…etc….Thirdly by having higher standards you can demand more from your employees and attract better talent. I believe that after you review my suggestions you will understand why it's a benefit to increase…

II. Increasing PTO will increase employee Moral since it shows the companies commitment to growth..(Here you give examples like 2 or 3)

II. Secondly increasing employee will allow employees to increase work life balance which ultimately decreases turnover (Here you give like 2 or 3 examples)

III. Finally, having better benefits will allow your company to be more critical of talent you higher which will increase company profitability overall. (Give 2 or 3 examples )

IV. (Summarize Everything and provide one final “bang” point) As discussed, I believe the company should increase PTO for the overall success of the company. First this will increase employee moral, since blah blah. Secondly this will increase work life balance since blah blah. Finally this will allow more critical of talent blah blah. Although in the front end increasing PTO will mean higher upfront, in the long run it will truly be a benefit to companies goals of growth and profit.
