I know that it is graded by computers and focuses more on grammar, spelling, formatting, and key words, but if you’re aware of key terms to use, does it even matter if what you write makes sense?

Don’t get me wrong, when I take my exam i’m going to give it my all, i’m just curious how much accuracy actually matters.

It would matter greatly if you are in the BEC bubble and the written part had to be reviewed by an actual person, which is not uncommon from what I gather…

Like @Trevor mentioned above, the bubble covers people who scored 72-78 (A huge chunk), so when you type the written communication, you have to always pretend that someone is going to read it. You also might want to consider rewriting the question as an answer in order to gain extra points with the computer or to stay in-topic if someone reads it.
