Worth my time to read appendices?

As I am quickly approaching my BEC exam (first one) I realized I did not spend much time nailing down the info in the Becker appendices such as SCOR model, supply chain management, and implications of dealing in foreign currencies. Were items in the appendices tested much? Do you recommend I go over them in detail?

I quickly figured out that the stuff in Becker's appendices isn't any less important than the stuff they lecture on. It's just that Olinto and Gearty decided that they were tired of lecturing, so they threw it in a “required reading” section so they wouldn't have to lecture on it.

So yes, absolutely, treat that stuff the same as the rest of the stuff in the book.

Having just taken BEC yesterday, I would say that anything in that book is fair game. I didn't touch the appendix. In the other sections, this approach worked fine for me. Unfortunately, BEC was not the same case. I feel like I will need some luck to pull a 75.

I definitely recommend reading/studying the appendices for BEC. I noticed some chapters (I'm thinking of 3 or 5 right now) were like 100 pages long, 20-30 of which was the appendices!

Becker has a ton of inventory cost flow methods in their F4 appendix, but I notice they don't offer any MCQ (even in the supplemental MCQ section, which is usually where they'll throw that kind of stuff in) for some of the methods in the appendix. Do you all think it is worth it to spend a lot of time on those methods which aren't even represented in the Becker's supplemental questions?

I'm not talking about Dollar-Value LIFO, Conventional Retail, etc., they do have those in MCQ, so I assume we need to know those, in addition to all the other ones we are familiar with from our intermediate accounting classes – I assume these are certainly tested…I'm talking about the more obscure ones in the F4 appendix.

However on the flip side of the massive appendices worth reading…the economics chapter is way too long in my opinion. Unnecessarily low. But I also have an econ background so maybe I just found it overly redundant. But they hardly test you on it.

I noticed that some of the appendix information is info that you will learn in other sections like FAR, AUD or REG review.. so Becker probably puts that info in Appendix because 1.) you already might know it from another section or 2.) it is rarely tested.. but doesn't mean you shouldn't read it. I can't say which section, but I had 1 question from an appendix section that I shouldn't have skipped. I ended up getting the question wrong.

When I saw the questions on my exam, I thought about how I skipped the section in the book thinking it wouldn't be important…. whoops!
