Hey all,

I’m working through Becker’s BEC study, and I feel like this test (compared to FAR and AUD which I’ve already taken,) are extremely specific of tiny little details. Like vocab that is mentioned once, within a subtopic of a subtopic of some bigger issue within a chapter. Like them asking for a control for something, and expecting me to remember “Edit Check.” And I’ve had many instances where I feel like it’s literally plucking a random fact out of the book and I could never remember them all.

Does anyone else feel this way? 🙁

I felt like with BEC, it seemed to take longer for the topics to sink in compared to the other three sections. For me, the biggest challenge was remembering all the info. I was kind of guessing the answers because there's so much info. to remember.

Trick question: I didn't.

That being said, I have a strong writing background. Make sure while writing you stay on topic, use an intro paragraph, 3 subject paragraphs and a conclusion. Restate the question a few times in your writing.

@PenguinLord I wish I had better news for you, but the exam throws that BS at you as well, so you might as well be prepared for it going in.

Idk about Becker test, ut I used Ninja MCQ and I found the actual exam to be almost comically easy compared to the questions I was getting in my practice tests. The Ninja questions made me want to pull my hair out and I found myself googling info for obscure topics. Meanwhile, the actual exam was pretty straight forward.

I like to use Becker flashcards. I think as long as you know all of those cards, you should be ok.

I would tell you what others told me. Know COSO inside and out. Know your cost formulas and how to calculate variances.

Im pretty sure I bombed my writing. I finished my exam with less than 5 seconds remaining and my second written topic had just a few sentences and I still passed comfortably.

BEC was a lot stranger than FAR for me.
I'm at least moderately intelligent and there were two words in two questions that I had no idea what the definition was-words I don't believe I've ever heard or seen before. I'm not even talking about technical accounting words, these were just plain uncommon English words. Of course they were main focal points to the question so I was unable to read between the lines.
My only advice would be to watch the lectures. I know a lot of people say to skip them but every so often Olinto will say “this WILL be on the exam” Seems like we pay a lot of money and put a lot of time into these study materials so it would make sense to heed their advice.
