Ok, I know I’m jumping the gun here. Today was Day 3 of studying. I’m using Becker. I’ve gotten through B1, just completed all the HW today.

I have been reading this board for hours…is Becker not enough to pass BEC? I got all bent out of shape and bought Wiley Test Bank. After all, it can’t hurt. I did 30 MCQ’s all related to Corporate Governance, and also did the CPA Review for Free Corporate Governance MCQ’s. Um, half of what I saw was not even touched on in the Corporate Governance section of Becker. “According to SAS # so and so…” That was not mentioned in B1. At all. This is my first section, so I have nothing to pull on to make even an educated guess. I am starting to get very nervous because I hadn’t seen these topics reviewed in B1 in Becker.

Is Becker enough? I feel like I’m understanding the material so far, but I’m starting to worry the exam will be completely different and I won’t even have a clue on half the questions. I feel like I am an awesome writer/BSer, so I am counting on doing well on the WC.

Anyone have any insight on Becker BEC? Sorry for the book I wrote… 🙂

I used Becker. It didn't hurt that my undergrad is in Econ.

Awesome, glad to hear from some people who have been successful with Becker! I am considering either getting the flashcards or the final review. Does anyone have advice as to which one is more helpful? I have been making my own flashcards but sometimes I wonder if I'm making too many/not enough/for the right topics. It'd be nice to have them printed out already, but it's another $300 so I want to know if it's worth it, or if I should just get the BEC final review?

I used Becker for BEC and I got a 90 on first attempt. Becker is just fine as long as you take the time to work the practice problems. They're pretty close to what you can expect on the exam.

I think it completely depends on how you learn…I bought the flashcards and tried to use them once – then never looked at them again. I'm better with concepts and understanding the overview of the material rather than the specific definitions, mnemonics and minutia details.

However, I would strongly recommend the Becker Final Review.

I've finished up B2 and I feel like my brain is complete mush. I am curious as to what the MCQ HW scores were your first time around for those of you who used Becker? I am consistently scoring 75-80 the first attempt. Is this good? Bad? After I study some more and concentrate on what I'm not getting, I do them again and I score in the upper 80s. I feel like I understand the material pretty well, but there are just some MCQs that are so multi-layered, I just feel I will never understand them no matter how I try. Did anyone else feel this way?

What is a good gauge in Becker for how well you're prepared for the exam, if there is one?

For corporate governance, I think the important thing is to remember the differences between normal internal control and enterprise ones. That's the only area where I used mnemonics to help me.

I think scoring 70-80% on MCQ the first time through indicates that you are grasping the information. I scored an average of 60-70% on my first run through the material. You will be amazed how much of the info sticks and the 2nd go round is much faster and smooth.

    AUD - Oct 2011 - 79
    BEC - Feb 2012 - 84 (seriously thought I failed this one)
    REG - May 2012 - 84 (hmmm.....do they actually grade the SIMS???)
    FAR - Aug 2012 - 80

I must be dreaming.... am I really done!!!
