I’m going to begin studying for BEC tomorrow and I wanted to know how did you guys use CPA Excel to study for BEC? I’ve heard that the lectures aren’t very useful for BEC but I thought they were very vital to me passing when I was taking FAR. Also, BEC is pretty foreign to me so I don’t think watching the lectures will hurt. I was hoping to hear what others did. I will be using Ninja MCQ to supplement again. I just don’t know if i’ll use it before or after I finish my review course.

I will say one thing: I really liked the videos for REG. I didn't use them for BEC and only used a few for FAR, but I really enjoyed all of the REG videos. I failed the first time with a 74 and passed the second time with a 79, BUT I actually never took a tax accounting course. So it was a very thorough a complete course for me. Personally, I didn't like CPAexcel for FAR–way too much information. I actually am switching to all NINJA materials for my AUG attempt.

I used CPAExcel exclusively for all my exams (because I knew if I got Becker it would expire, lol).
I always watch all the videos (except really really short ones (like IFRS VS GAAP differences in FAR – but I skipped these lessons completely anyways).
I didn't even touch any of the supplemental questions either because I feel like they're overkill. I actually didn't even do all of the exam questions since there are too many lessons.
Personally, I think all of these CPA exam review courses have way too much material.

I always try to build a strong foundation and learn the basics really well and hone my skills and knowledge practicing MCQ/Sim's.
    Just my 2 cents.

I used CPAExcel for all 4 sections including BEC. I think that it is a great review course. I watched all the videos while taking intense notes. To be honest I didn't open the book for BEC. Most of this section should be review of college cost accounting, finance and econ classes. I did every question because I have to turn every box green. It's just how I roll.

    MS, Accounting - Done!

    FAR - 83 (CPAexcel/Ninja MCQ)
    AUD - 87 (CPAexcel/Ninja MCQ)
    REG - 10/16
    BEC - 11/16

I used wiley to study for BEC. I also watched every video, looked at every note card, took every Mc question and read through all of the sims. I also took all of the questions in their separate test bank. I made an 82. If videos are your thing, watch the videos. The financial accounting guy is super slow and the cost accounting guy is somewhat vague but it was almost better that way because I did more work independently to figure it out and probably learned it better in the long run because of it.

    I did.

I followed the Wiley curriculum. Video lecture -> Proficiency -> Flash cards -> MCQ. Ended up with a 66%. Yea… don't do that and waste your time.

Do 2 things. 1) Open up the book. Skim through it and 2) drill MCQs. I'm going to do this for my other sections from now on. Enough of wasting time.
