On Page 2013 B1 (50-51), there is a comprehensive example of process costing. Did this confuse the heck out of anyone else? I thought I had a pretty good understanding of the process costing until I got to this. Specifically, when they compute the “Total units accounted for” – I can’t figure out how they got that. The equivalent units of production also seem to use a different formula that doesn’t match up with the pass key on the previous page. Can anyone help me out?

Total units to account for, I think, is (a) beginning inventory + units completed. Then accounted for are (b) units transferred out + ending inventory. (a) should equal (b). Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. This is off the top of my head.

I don't have Becker either, but going off of what @840048 said, shouldn't it be units started for a and not units completed? Because not all units were completed, but they were all started.
