Ok, just got back from my BEC test today. The first testlet was ok. Not too shabby. But Testlets 2 and 3 were brutal. I feel so abused by the AICPA right now. Testlet 1 was straighforward and basic. But then Testlet 2 came along and I was in agony. The theory questions became very dense in wording and the calculation questions were just too much.

I have better feeling about this because at least the testlets got harder. With REG, I was lost from the beginning and I knew I bombed. But this, I have mixed feelings. Did I pass? Possibly. Did I kick butt? Possibly. Did I fail? Possibly. My grade could be anything. My test experience with BEC was about the same as FAR. Only there’s a rumor that BEC is not curved as much, so there’s a good chance that my grade could be significantly lower. Who knows? I’ll just have to wait and see. With the new change in the score release dates, I have no idea when to expect my score.

Now, as I wait for my BEC results, I’m off to restudy for REG. But all I have to say is…. do not underestimate BEC. Those difficult questions are extremely brutal. No joke!

Thanks you the warning. I'll be sitting for BEC in January. Sometimes you just never know, you may are done really well. When I took Audit last window I thought I did great!!! Missed it by 2 points. Reg I thought I did ok and I passed. I thought I did while on FAR and failed it. You just never know. Good luck on REG!!

I was actually surprised how hard BEC was. With the testlets now adjusting in difficulty, I have to believe that the exam has gotten significantly harder this year. I wonder if BEC is still not curved as much as the other 3. I mean, there has to be some sort of curve. Some of my questions were insane and tricky.

But of course, unlike REG, I actually knew what I was doing. It's just that the questions took a lot of thinking and a lot of calculations to solve. I was so exhausted after the 3 hours were up. There were a handful of questions that I wasn't 100% sure of, so I looked them up when I got home and sure enough, I got them right. I hope that means I did well. I don't want to think too positive. Just so I don't jinx it, I'm going to predict a score of 73. 😉

@ atelery, I believe thats subjective. I took BEC in august and while my grade was not spectacular I still feel like it was as easy as any CPA exam would be. After that exam I was able to go shopping and I wasnt too upset unlike AUD. I am now studying for FAR and while I am 3 months away I am fearing that day. Studying for FAr is like studying for AUD & BEC at one time. Nevertheless i see alot of ppl passing FAr that couldnt pass BEC so I dont know if I should take solace in that. A co worker of mine who keeps taking BEc & AUD and fail passed FAR his first time…

I think that since the passing rate was so high last window they are making it more difficult this window!! I am truly scared because this test seems to have more calculations than FAR. With FAR it dealt with things that I do on a daily basis but I do not touch the stuff that is in BEC and it feels like I am a sophomore in college back in my cost accounting class (which I hated). Can anyone offer any tips.

@gottagetmycpa, like rknight21 said, its definitely subjective, thats just my opinion, I am more of a financial person though.

@rknight21, yup, sure it is subjective, but you will be fine, FAR is not that bad, just make sure you know the differences between IFRS and GAAP, it is definitely heavily tested.

I would say BEC is just as hard as FAR, only the material is less and the test is shorter.

@rknight21, So did you feel really, really prepared for AUD and then feel blind sided by it? I'm trying to figure out if I'm ready, and I think I may be over-preparing.

One thing I forgot to add is that I was glad that I did not leave any stone unturned when I studied for this exam. I kept getting questions on topics that were only supposed to be a small portion of the exam. And I didn't get any questions on some topics that were supposed to be heavily tested.

These exams are so random. So, know EVERYTHING!!!

I was definitely fully prepared for AUD. I was only blind sided by the Sim's which is really hard to prepare for since they are real world applications. keep in mind i studied out the whaazooo. wiley, passmaster, ninja notes & cpareviewforfree.I am not familiar with Bisk

I agree with CPAman… for every exam know as much as you can about everything… these exams arent the same…there were a hand full of questions on BEC I never seen before
