I’ve seen a few comments that notecards are key for BEC… so I’m going to Wal Mart after work to by some index cards. 🙂 What else does everyone recommend? Also- what are your recommendations for preparing for the written portion?

Any advice or input on what your study plan for BEC was is also appreciated!!

As an FYI, I have Ninja Notes & Audio, Yaeger lectures + Wiley book/testbank.

@TXCPAGAL12 – I used to work full-time at a local CPA firm; I resigned my position as of November 9, 2012 because (a) I did not enjoy the environment whatsoever and (b) I wanted to get moving on the CPA. I took the weekend off and then started my preparation. I also teach as an adjunct professor at a local community college (I have an MBA) and I obviously continued doing that. I taught three courses in the fall and am teaching five this spring (which is a full-time load; I would actually love to get a full-time position teaching). So, to say I have a typical full-time job would be incorrect as I can schedule most of my time how I would like, but to compensate I also have two young ones running around all the time! Regardless, it works well for my studying… 2-3 hours a day is more than sufficient for me.

I used the Yaeger review course and the corresponding Wiley book. As I indicated in my previous post, my preparation was not very good and I felt fortunate to come away with an 85. I think the Yaeger/Wiley combination works very well, but I really didn't even do much at all with the last two modules (46 & 47), didn't do any WC preparation, and didn't do any MC for Modules 45 through 47 with the exception of the ones that Cindy Simpson worked in the videos. To be perfectly honest, I was contemplating not even going to take the test (I was also sick that day) but decided to give it a shot just to see what it was like and get the experience (I was a CPA virgin at that point). If it makes sense, I was “planning” on failing but again, I think my strategy of concentrating on my strengths really helped me pull through notwithstanding my general lack of preparation.

When doing the MQ, understanding is key. If something doesn't click…read! Progression tests (at least in Becker) will relatively tell you what areas of understanding should be worked on.

@rroano – Absolutely correct with respect to MC comprehension. You get more out of those that you answer incorrectly the first time around, because you will end up looking up the answer and understanding why what you chose is wrong, why the other two are incorrect, and why one is correct.

I frequently see here… just do as many MC as possible. In my opinion, it's quality over quantity. As long as you go through them once and understand why an answer is correct and why an answer is incorrect, you're going to get a lot out of it.
