It seems that sometimes there are huge variations in how you feel about the material and how you do on the exam. Can anyone explain the mechanism by which the following occurred (this should sound vaguely familiar to some of you):
I took BEC earlier this year, blew off the entire chapter on financial management/modeling, froze on the WC and instead of writing a helpful memo, I left 2 of 3 mostly blank (the other I nailed). I completed 85% of Becker’s hwk but did not rework them all for a second time. I received a 74.
I took BEC again last month, I studied the material extensively, understood everything including financial mod/mgmt on a very deep level. Every formula in my head with knowledge of small variations of each. In fact, after I finished studying for the re-take I was shocked just how little I actually knew the first time around. I finished all Becker hwk’s twice, purchased Wiley test bank and ran through that at least twice too. Going into the exam I was sure that an 85 was in the bag easy. I honed my test taking skills, reading the question carefully and either answering it or moving on. Doubling back only to spend 30 seconds on each identifying the required concept or guessing as applicable. I left 1.25 hours for the WC’s and wrote all three. The last of three, while not technically accurate, was as informative as could be. I received a 77, just three points higher than my previous attempt.
I found questions on testlet 2/3 of this exam, much harder than those of my first exam which I felt were the same difficultythroughout. If I didn’t know any better I would say that I was prepared for the easy ones, which then vaulted me into the more difficult questions where apparently I got trounced.
A friend of mine just sat for REG and got some strange results herself: she did below average on every section for MCQ…and then got an above average on the SIMS.
AUD - 75*, 88 done 5/14! (*exp)
BEC - 74 , 77
REG - 65 , 76 (10 point combooo!!)
