How many random IT questions can be on one BEC exam? Crazy. I am so disgusted with this section. I used the Becker review and thought it to be very thorough until I was presented with numerous, ridiculous and random IT questions on the actual exam. These topics weren’t mentioned anywhere in the Becker Review. WTF! Any suggestions for IT review?

As we speak. Doing B3, WACC – cost of equity vs cost of debt. I miss that stuff, always liked it but never REALLY used it at work…

I am not really a fan of taxes so it is a bit of a bore to me. Not too much logic to rely on to refigure out things. I am just going to have to keep staring at the material pretty much.

Lol I just finished B-1. I love procrastinating. I remember this lady in my Becker AUD class was definitely complaining about random IT stuff on her BEC exam but she passed. So maybe they really are pretest…

For anyone worried about IT, I would recommend going online to the Becker KnowledgeBase (if you're using Becker) and reading/understanding the supplemental information they provide for the IT chapter. It will be a big, big help.

@ecb415- maybe the information you're referring to is in the KB?

Becker alone would have not got me through on the IT section! Use Gleim for IT!” Well now I'm going to SCREAM IT!!!! “USE GLEIM FOR IT!!!!!” Had I not used Gleim, I would have never understood how to answer the tricky IT questions. Gleim helped me understand the theory behind the IT.

I agree that the IT questions are random and some of them are out there. Hopefully your questions are pretest and counted on your score. In terms of studying, best I suggest is read as much of info you can. Most of questions are you know it or you don't (vocabulary) and applying those concepts (critical thinking). Spend extra time reviewing those questions in Becker if you have it, and Wiley is also good. Also the supplement on Becker website is good. I also think its kind of luck, hopefully you do better in the other parts so you pass. Those are my thoughts.

Okay so I had a very similar experience with a handful of questions being way out there…. either they were pretest or they were the only things I got wrong…. I'm pretty sure that most of them were pretest thankfully….. Hopefully in your case this was the same and you did well on the rest….

I had the same issue, coming out of the exam I seriously thought I failed due to the IT questions asked… I agree with most that they were probably pretest questions, passed with an 81. Scored a 73 on the first try and I thought I knew most of the IT questions……

BEC: 73,81(7/6/2010); AUD: 75(5/24/2010); FAR: 76(8/31/2010); REG: 77 (10/18/2010) - DONE!!!!

I thought Wiley was pretty good for very short topics, like IT, that Becker lacked.
