Taking BEC in 4 days…Am I ready? - Page 2

I am sitting for BEC in a few days and am feeling overwhelmed. I decided since I took FAR on July 10th, I would sit for this exam before I start working full time on August 12th. Even though I have only had 4 weeks, I have been through the material twice and am currently just reviewing weak topics. I am using Becker and to no surprise I am struggling with Cost and finance the most. I have been getting 80’s on Becker progress tests and 70’s on Wiley test bank (with slightly lower scores on Cost and finance). I am trying to recalculate questions everytime I see them no matter if I have the answer memorized or not. I also try and understand the conceptual answers to the best of my ability as well to avoid falling into the question memorization trap. In addition, I have been reading and doing flashcards as well. I know you are never supposed to feel “ready” for these exams but I am not sure if I am in a good place or not at this point? I have been reading alot on this forum about Becker not being the best review for BEC and that the exam is a crap shoot. I am worried what I am doing will not be enough! Any input and suggestions would be appreciated!

I understand they can be confidence killers, but I also think you can use them to learn where your weak points are. I remember my first Becker Final with REG was a total confidence killer and I was sure I'd fail. 3 days later I took REG and killed it.

I used the results of the Becker finals to focus my studies on my areas of weakness. You don't have to take the Becker finals if you're afraid it will ruin your brimming confidence. That being said, I still suggest you take it and that you just use the results to focus on the areas of weakness to hopefully boost your actual BEC score a few points.

    REG (5/31/12) - 90
    FAR (7/12/12) - 85
    AUD (8/23/12) - 91
    BEC (10/13/12) - 85

I just got out BEC and didn't go great. I felt I was guessing alot and the questions nearly felt like they were out of left field. My first and 3rd testlet were okay and I felt I flagged about half of my second testlet. Ill probably be retaking this one again 🙁

If your second testlet was harder, that means you did awesome on the first testlet! When I took BEC, my 2nd was definitely harder, and my 3rd back to not as hard…but I got an 81! So there's still hope! 🙂

How did you feel with the WCs? I didn't know till I was in the exam that technical accuracy mattered (I swear my materials had said it didn't, though the sample ones in the test bank do now say that technical accuracy matters…), so I felt very thrown for a loop when I saw that and then had topics I really didn't know for sure what advice was “right”.

I don't know if my second testlet actually got harder…the questions weren't longer or anything but I found myself feeling very confused and flagged half the testlet

How do you know about the difficulty of the testlet? I've never really noticed a difference in any exam, but on the first 3 I took I must have gotten harder ones as my score was high. On my BEC exam, I noticed what I perceived as difficult questions on the 2nd and 3rd testlets but they weren't long, they just seemed to take more thought. There were also easier questions on them as well. I would hope they were hard as i'm sure I managed a good score on all testlets with only a few curveballs, but I seem to be reading a bit that the questions would be longer on harder testlets. Is this fact, or just what has been perceived? Good luck cchiz i'll keep my fingers crossed for you !

    FAR - 95
    REG - 93
    AUD - 91
    BEC - 85
