    hello all,

    i have failed AUD 2x. 52 1st try and 67 next. i’m planning to re-take it in JAN and BEC at the end of FEB.

    is it a good iead to study them together? should i tackle ONLY AUD now or study them together? is the material similar?

    what should be my best strategy?

    using BECKER, Wiley test bank and ninja notes.

    @M,

    Since you have failed AUD twice (but are on upward trend !), I would suggest focusing on studying for & passing AUD. Put all your energy on AUD until you are scoring well and confident that you will pass. Study all areas in AUD – with emphasis on weaknesses – and avoid the temptation of only studying for the incremental 8 points you need.

    You can compare the AICPA Content Specs Outline (CSO's) to compare content on AUD / BEC. I recall that the one key area of overlap was on corporate governance, internal control & recent legislation. Certain concepts such as COSO, SOX, Dodd-Frank are covered on both and must be well understood. Most of AUD however, involves unique areas not on BEC.

    Assuming you pass AUD, then move on to BEC which is a 3 hour test versus the 4 hour AUD. On a general level, BEC has less information to study for than AUD, but can be very tricky due to its non-accounting nature (e.g. governance, IS, finance, econ, strategy, etc). You should be able to carry over some of your knowledge from AUD to BEC re the topics mentioned above.

    In any event, good luck with whatever strategy you select !

    Using Wiley
    FAR = 94 Feb 2012
    BEC = 92 April 2012
    AUD = 95 July 2012
    REG = 91 Nov 2012

    I agree 100% with Roma. Because I failed AUD twice myself, I can tell you that if so far you've not passed while giving it your full attention, splitting your attention will only harm you.

    Rewrite the ninja notes MULTIPLE times, I did at least 9 pages per day so that within 30 days I had rewritten them three times. And just keep at those MCQ's.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75
