Yes you should be fine with 4 weeks of studying full-time. I had 3 weeks for BEC and passed with an 83. Took me 2 weeks to go through material/lectures once and I left a bit over a week for the final review/redoing HW.

    REG - 7/2/12 - 88
    BEC - 7/25/12 - 83
    FAR - 10/01/12 - 86
    AUD - 11/24/12 - 90

@yogi – Honestly, you're going to hear a variety of different responses depending on who you ask. Some people struggle with the topics in BEC a lot more than others. For me, I only put in about 2.5wks, but I was a double major in ACC/CIS and I loved ECN/FIN (almost majored in them). Plus, I taught managerial accounting during my grad program so all that stuff (especially the dreaded overhead variances) was pretty fresh for me. So for me, BEC was probably the easiest exam and required the least amount of study time.

You really have to evaluate how comfortable you are with the topics contained within the CSO for BEC and make the determination of how much time you'll need to get yourself up to speed.

Hopefully that helps. Good luck with the exam. Reach out to this forum if you have questions/concerns about any topics. I know many of us will do what we can to help.

It took me like 5 weeks.. yes it was “full time”, but I would probably study like 4-5 hrs a day (doing MCQ's) not including lectures/reading the book. I'd say 4.5 weeks is perfect. I got an 81 with 5 weeks, and I was slacking thanks to cost accounting making me feel crappy, and felt like I needed a 2 day break because of it. Good luck!

I am doing the same time frame and I am working full time. I feel like I am already comfortable with the majority of the BEC topics and that all I need is a quick review of the material and a couple of weeks of formula memorization and practice drilling multiple choice questions.

@TaxThreat You seem to go through the lectures very fast.Do you also take notes while going through the lectures?I have 3 weeks left before my exam date and I am just spending way too much time on writing notes for each chapters. How was your study plan?

You should be good. I did it in 2 weeks studying full time.

NIU CPA Review Correspondence is awesome!

I passed all four sections on the first attempt

i needed 4 weeks (3 really because I just complained and procrastinated for a whole weeks worth of time) (full time that is)

BEC was so hard and easy at the same time. Does that make sense? I felt that only about 5% of the material I studied showed on the test. It's just so random. Passable, but random. Resist the urge to walk out after the first testlet, and you'll be golden.

@Alpa. I took about 4.5 weeks to do it while studying anywhere between 3-5 hours a day. I don't know which review course you are using, but i used Becker. The best approach for your first run I would suggest is to do the HW questions right after you watched/read that section of your lecture. This exam is so all over the place there is no way you can expect to effectively absorb everything and go back to the HWs later.

    REG - 5/21/2012 - 85
    FAR - 7/24/2012 - 86
    BEC - 8/27/2012 - 85
    AUD - 10/5/2012 - 72....rematch 1/3/13 (waiting)

how important is memorizing the formulas for BEC? I am a finance/tax gal with not the greatest accounting background (been awhile since college). Studying for BEC planning to take it 10/5/12. Only on B2 in Becker but its going soooo slow! Need some words of encouragement since this will be my second cpa test (Failed REG with a 74 on 08/31/12 🙁
