So nervous for BEC. Please help!

I only have 3 days left until my BEC exam (it is my last section to pass) and I am a nervous wreck. Call me crazy but I feel like this could be the trickiest section for me. I have studied for about a month and have done hundreds of questions but some of these calculations in my Becker course are from left field and even after reading the explanation I just don’t understand how they would even think to solve it that way. I am doing just OK on my progress tests usually averaging between a 75-85% range and to make matters worse I did terrible on the practice exam I just took. I did horrible on my AUD and REG practice exams right before I sat and ended up passing both so I think it could be a case where I’m just nervous but I am really concerned. I’ve memorized every possible formula and mnemonic by heart which is helping a little but I still am getting slammed with these bizarre calculations.

Any advice leading up to these 3 days would be really helpful!!

Seems like you are just nervous and probably over prepared. When I took BEC earlier this year, there weren't many calculation questions. If you feel comfortable with the material, maybe you can also practice some writing questions, just to get a feel for how you want to write in the exam. While you can pass on multiple choice alone, I personally feel the writing questions are easy points.

    REG - 2/19/16 - 77!
    BEC - 4/16/16 - 79!!
    AUD - 6/04/16 - 84!!!
    FAR - 8/31/16

Wow, its like you read my mind. Instead of BEC I have REG as my (hopefully) last exam on Saturday. And I took my first Becker final last night and was in the low 60%. Granted I rushed through and did it in under two hours. But all we can do is stay focused. I'm going to be re-hand-typing notes tomorrow and Friday. I took PTO. All my co-workers told me to have fun on my days off:/

BEC was very hard for me. I used Gleim, but I had trouble with the video lecture. So items I didn't understand I would look up different lectures on youtube. You someone elses perspective.

I still now with REG stop during MCs if i don't get it and will watch a lecture on youtube or pull a different lecture book I have (on a retake).

    I wish you the best!

    AUD (10/14) 62 (2/16) 83
    BEC
    FAR (8/14)71 (1/24/15)77
    REG (5/14) 69

LMAO – another member of this is the last one and far worse than I'd anticipated. For me, it's IT and COSO that's killing me because it's all fluff. Really simple terms/concepts being grouped in ways that don't matter with language/definitions that serve no real purpose.

Also have a tough time with fixed MOH variance analysis.

I know the way variance was taught in class was easier and much more concept based. I can't follow the tabular method and the equations get confusing with budgeted variable rates as far as budgeted hours/material vs. applied.

BEC is odd. And yet it has the highest pass rates of all sections. Beats me.

I must wait until the 16th for my score. I take it that you are staying up tonight to see yours. That will be me next week. Best of luck to you all…this is a big moment.

I honestly think I should have studied longer for BEC. I now regret listening to those who said BEC was easy and cramable. IT , COSO AND COST are S.O.Bs I get the econ and everything else. I test on Friday, I'm taking tomorrow off. I will study 8 morning and afternoon, mediate, relax and try to have a good night sleep. At this point what else can I do?

God I wish I could help, but I was such a mess when I took my BEC…the morning after the election and got very little sleep. I was pretty much a zombie during the exam, but I managed to pass.

I'm 3 days away from AUD. I see so many high AUD scores here, what are your secrets???

I practiced so many questions for AUD that by the time I got to my exam the questions were literally repeats which made it a breeze. Granted it was my third attempt (first time I memorized way too much and didn't actually spend time understanding and second time a 74). Also, do NOT get fooled by test difficulty. My whole exam seemed ridiculously easy because my questions were short and too the point that I cried and thought I failed. Ended up passing with an 84. Also use the authoritative literature for help with the SIMS. I was able to answer 3 SIMS using the research tool.

My one take away from the exams – bolstered by reading the explanation of exam scoring – is that you don't know until score date. I was pretty sure I had totally tanked far, thought my question mix was a worst case scenario (20+ IFRS!) but it ended up fine.

To give you some confidence, I took the 2nd BEC Becker practice exam the week of my actual exam, and scored a 61 on the multiple choice. I found out last night that I had passed with an 87. The practice exam definitely felt much more difficult than the actual thing.

Just be sure to take your time on the multiple choice and make sure you have a general understanding of how the written portion should be formatted and organized, and you should be fine. You got this!

@C3PA2016 You won't believe this but I got exactly what you got on Becker's Test 2 BEC and I thought that it was easier than the actual exam. I hope you are right!
