My name is not a normal English name so it’s going to be marked as “incorrect spelling” if I sign with my name. My question is, are points going to be deducted if I sign off as “CPA Exam Candidate” or “Bob the CFO” or whatever the guy are you supposed to be in the essay prompt?

The good news is that you don't have to sign off! Just put some sort of concluding paragraph like “I look forward to yada yada yada,” but you don't have to worry about “Sincerely, yada yada yada.”

Damn I never though that the name would show up as incorrect spelling. I have a foreign name and if that is the reason I got a 74 twice, that sucks! This time I am just going to write CPA Exam Candidate…….

I've seen in some review courses they put a signature and other they have no signature. I wish these courses were consistent in their answers.

Make sure you read the instructions carefully. For example, if the instructions may say “You as staff accountant” or “You as corporate controller”, sign it accordingly. I always used my real name in the signatures followed by whatever title may have been “given” me in the situation. You never know if you are on the bubble and the exam is chosen to be reviewed again. Sometimes the examiners may look at the little details such as this.

I just signed it my name, CPA …. like Jeff suggested in one video. Can they really take points off for “incorrect” spelling of your name? I wouldnt imagine. Not sure what your first name is … but say your name is Mistoffelees Smith … you could sign “M. Smith, CPA”

    FAR - 1/26/2012 - PASSED (78, but Lost credit), re-do 11/27/2013 - PASSED (87)!
    AUD - EPIC FAIL, 71, 69; 68; 5/25/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    REG - 10/1/2012 - 72; 7/1/2013 - 73 UGH, 10/1/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    BEC - 2/28/2013 - PASSED (82)!
    Licensed CPA!

Used Becker self-study materials (just this for FAR original & REG #1), WileyTestBank, NINJA notes/audio, and Roger cram course for AUD #5, REG #3 & FAR reboot. CPA!

I never signed mine. Remember to RTFQ! A memo isn't signed. Only a letter has a signature at the bottom. A memo has a heading at the top to tell the recipient who sent it. Memo's are usually less formal so there isn't a signature. Typically, you would initial next to your name on a memo to verify that you did write it. I know the rules change from time to time and vary from country to country, but both times I passed BEC I didn't sign the WC and I got an 82 the first time and an 85 the last.
