Should have started with BEC

Man I am seriously doubting myself right now if I can pass this exam… I have never been good at memorization of little tick tac things. So like the difference between all these management styles, or porters 5 forces, the project management stuff. Then to top it off, I am a horrible writer/speller. I am starting to this this is going to be my Achilles heel, and I only have 3 shots at it before I lose FAR… please someone tell me this exam is not as hard as Becker is making it seem for me.

Given that you passed all 3 other sections by a fair margin, I wouldn't be concerned. Of the three that I have taken, I found BEC to be by far the easiest (obviously everyone is different). One nice thing about BEC is that, even if you forget the concept, a lot of the material can be reasoned through to come to a likely answer in the multiple choice. I also am using Becker and felt over-prepared as I was sitting for the test.

    AU - 99 7/5
    REG - 93 7/17
    BEC - Awaiting Score 8/1
    FAR - 8/21

Two of my friends have taken BEC and scored in the 80's. One of them said they “did not study much” and the other said they did not go over B2 or B3 for Becker. I am not saying “do not study”, but I have a feeling Becker over prepares you similar to their law section of various topics (Money Laundering? LOL).

I personally have not taken the test yet but my understanding is the essays are graded by machine and then re analyzed by a human if you are close to a +/- 75. If you are able to; Copy / paste the question in the prompt, state some obvious answers about the questions for keyword recognition, add some filler words and connections, then just make sure the sentences flow, eg.. no LOL or eg; you are golden. Allegedly.

The exam is a test of mental fortitude as well as technical know how. As Waccountant said you seem to have a good grasp of technical, you just have to focus on realizing you do.

BEC is impossible for me, and I think I know the subject matter pretty well. I have failed it four times already. One more time and I'm calling it quits!

@vartex – on your score release sheet what is doing you in? Is it the essay or the mc questions?

Hang in there, Never Give Up!

Don't even think about whether or not you're going to fail. Just pour all your time and energy into studying and cramming as much information as you can. Getting an understanding of as much as you can. In the end, the only thing you can control is how much you study so be confident in the fact that you're giving it all.

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

I ended up passing but BEC gave me the hardest time to study for. The experience taking the test was particularly pleasant either. They kept giving me questions on stuff that wasn't covered. One of my questions had an answer that was so obvious I couldn't believe it and selected something else. I got home and checked it out and the obvious answer was correct. Passed anyway so its all good.

@Whopper Warrior – it's always the MC. I score above average on WC. I've scored 72's and 73's. I can't get over the hump no matter what I do. I blame Becker for being inept in teaching this section. I picked up the 2013 book and it's completely different than the 2011 one that I was using, especially in Corporate Governance and IT, which I think are useless things to have to know in so much detail. I have already found other jobs that don't require a CPA to succeed or make you work any OT. I have already invested enough time and I'm ready to move on with my life.

We live in a time where the world wide web can be found in our pockets. I am not going to sit there and memorize nonsense that isn't going to help me with work, especially when we never need to know it in life, period. Like I said in my earlier post, I know the material well. I know the formulas and concepts…

I already lost credit for AUD and retook that a couple of weeks ago. Re-studying is also a joke and the biggest waste of time. I don't think anyone here is as frustrated as me.

    @Never Give Up

I don't know if it helps but you post could have come from me. As you see BEC is my (hopefully) last one as well.

I hate most of the boring topics! I am mixing up the same things like you do, this is nothing logical… I have such a hard time to stay focused.

It is sooo boring and I think this exam can be a pretty huge beast as well.

    But: LETS BEAT IT!!!!

@Cessna – We got to do this! I am just happy there are others who feel the same way I do about this exam. I am way nervous about BEC more than any of the other tests. I keep hearing horror stories that Becker sucked for BEC… so I am psyching myself out big time.

BEC is an enigma to me. Most people say it's the easiest of the 4 exams, the last 2 quarters it had the highest pass rate (something like 55%) but I notice in people's signature lines it's often their lowest score. My exam was tough but I do think it helped having taken the other 3 sections first. I got a few oddball questions that were not covered in my BEC book but were in other sections so I felt I was able to guess on a few I may have had no clue on if I hadn't studied those topics already. You just have to prepare the best you can with the study materials you have. I think they make the multiple choice on this one really crazy because there are no sims and the computer is basically looking for key words in the essays. They want to keep that pass rate as low as possible I'm assuming. Anyway I am hoping to get a good result on this one. The wait is killing me.

    AUD 99 (4/18/13)

I completely agree with you guys. I put BEC last because I've heard it was the easiest. I started studying and I was shocked! It is not the easiest at all! I have no idea how I did — I walked out of there and I'm scared. The score release date can't come soon enough!

CPA as of April 2015!! Woot!

I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling this way! I saved BEC for last as well and I am just having a miserable time with it. The MCQ are taking me forever to get through and I just don't feel like i am comprehending much. I'm really nervous about this one. I just want to finish this exam so I am trying to motivate myself to just keep studying and push through but this stuff is way more challenging than I anticipated
