Im on B3 in Becker and am absolutely shocked how many formulas there are. As of now im estimating there are between 50-70 formulas needed to be memorized? How can somebody possibly remember all this?

I feel your pain. I was able to pass the other 3 sections on first try, and was saving BEC for last, assuming it was going to be the easiest. But, I am finding it the hardest to get through. I think Becker makes there MC a lot harder than the actual exam. I just started the B6 section with IT, but I did struggle with a few calculation topics in B2 and B4. But honestly, after B4, its mostly theory questions which is good. I would say the best approach is to keep moving on with the difficult topics and focus in on those more during final review. As you are doing the MC for the formula type questions, try and write out the formulas, that has helped me remember a lot of the formulas, and yes there is a lot of them. But just keep hammering away at the MC and writing out all the formulas by section and you should be fine. Good luck studying.

I felt this way too when I was studying BEC. Best bet is to make notecards and just refresh them every day.

I don't remember needing to remember that many formulas but 50-70 formulas isn't that bad. Think of all the other things you've had to memorize during school…presidents, states and capitals, multiplication tables, periodic table elements, formulas for trig and geometry. You'll get through it and then forget them a month later like all of us have!

I'm about 68% of the way through my BEC course (Roger's not Becker) and so far have a Quizlet with 81 formulas and mnemonics. Haven't even started the section on cost accounting and variances and such yet either. I go through my Quizlet regularly but I would say there are quite a few which pretty much anyone with a basic knowledge of accounting should already have memorized (current ratio, working capital, etc…). I've also heard that they have started providing formulas for the SIMS so that its more about understanding and application than memorizing formulas but as I haven't taken it myself I can't confirm that.

They do provide a full list of formulas on sims (at least the sims that require formulas). You still need to know them for any MCQ that might have a formula, but I think they're more likely to show up on the sims which will provide a list for you.

Don't get too bogged down on the amount of formulas. There are certain formulas that you must know: WACC, break event point, turnover ratios…
Make sure you get a grasp of cost accounting & financial accounting.. as those are the tedious calculations that make up the exam. The conceptual stuff like economics, governance and IT make sure know because they are easy points.
