Seriously…. how do you get a good grade on the BEC WC?

    I constantly get scores around 50% or below on all the practice WCs in CPAExcel… I use keywords… stay on topic and my answer really isn’t too far off from the example they provide. Anyone have a go-to method? Anyone who has scored “stronger” in WC during their window?

    I got a 94% on MC on my practice exam, but a 43% on my WC. I would like to get that 43% much higher.

    AUD- 96
    BEC- 84

    You don't need to stress too much over BEC's written communication.

    On exam day, the examiners judge your writing and not content. I believed I had 52 minutes during my exam, and looking at the topics, I was like whatever and tried my best to answer the prompt. When I got out of the test, I wasn't necessarily confident in my written responses, but as it turns out I received a “Stronger” in the end.

    I'm naturally not a good writer when it comes to a timed test, but I was able to manage. You don't need to worry too too much on the WC portion (this should be the gimme points section), whereas the MC's section is worth 85% of your exam.

    REG = 58 (02-20-13), 75 (05-01-13)
    AUD = 67 (05-29-13), 79 (08-29-13)
    BEC = 83 (07-31-13)
    FAR = 72 (10-29-13), 69 (02-27-14), 73 (04-16-14), 81(08-13-14)

    I agree with kudawudashuda. They're gimme points. I would imagine it's almost impossible to get all 15% on the WC, so focus on getting 75 points from the MCQs and then use your WC for a couple extra points. Also, who knows how CPAExcel grades their WC? It's probably a pretty crappy software.

    Also, I'd say allow yourself at least 45 minutes for the written portion, more if you're like me and are not a good writer under pressure.

    Took exam yesterday. I agree with other posters, W/C was the LEAST of worries on BEC. Just remember to have beg, middle and end and stay on topic, i.e. address request put forward.

    I was very worried about W/C b/c i'm non-native speaker. Let me reassure you that it was not an issue at all, just know how to put memo together. Also, I was surprised how much stuff I wrote and had to trim it down 😉

    Note: I did practiced W/C sims in Becker and a few in Wiley.

    To be honest, I probably spent like 10 minutes in my 100+ hours of studying to look over what's important for the written communication. I tried recalled a mnemonic on Becker, which was IRAQ during the exam, which completely wasted my time.

    AUD = 67 (05-29-13), 79 (08-29-13)
