School me on BEC

    Hi all,

The last time I took BEC it was much different (I believe it contained Business Law–back in 1994)….so I am sure it is much different now. It has the writing questions which I will rock on, buzzwords and clear, concise sentences. Got it.

So what’s the hardest part of BEC? What gives people the most fits? For me it will be studying while worrying what my freaking audit grade was until 2/3. I just took my Auditing yesterday and will begin studying BEC next week using CPAExcel and probably Wiley test bank questions. Then it will either be a shot in the arm by a good passing grade or a kick to the crotch on a failing grade.

I have five full weeks to study and will likely put in at least 25 hours per week based on my schedule.

    Thanks,

    CPAPending

I think for most people, the toughest part of BEC is the scope of subjects you have to study for and will be tested on. Subject matter can cover IT, corporate governance, economics, cost accounting, etc…it's a little of everything. Some people struggle with the IT section. That was one of my strongest areas, whereas I really struggled with the economics section.

In my opinion, the exam wasn't too tough. The written part was easy, and the MCQs weren't too lengthy. It's just a lot of odd subjects that are thrown together in one exam.

    AUD: Passed
    REG: Passed
    FAR: Passed

i'm the opposite of sacredtheory. my undergrad was in econ so that part of BEC was tough. memorizing IT flow charts was harder. i hadn't had cost accy in awhile so i spent some time on the variance analysis.
